BINGO!!!

Petty,
I contacted George's Music and found one.  They are shipping it up to Philly and it should be here by Monday.

Thanks Petty I'm grateful for your help.

That's awesome! I'm glad I could help.

Re: New Epiphones starting to appear?

Hi folks, just ordered one from Thomann in Germany. Only 150 JB Epi for Europe ! Hard to find, I'm really excited to get it.
I already have the 60 tribute with classic 57 Gibson pickups and I think it's a great guitar for the value (a LP Standard is a bit too pricey for me).
I'll let you know how it feels when I get it (y the end of the week).
Cheers

Re: New Epiphones starting to appear?

After my first one came in busted, and after I sent it back, I ordered two more. Hoping one would make in one peice. Well, one did, the other had a crack in the neck up by the headstock. Sad thing is I was gonna send one to California to someone who was having a hard time getting one. Well , that didn't work. In all I recieved three of these guitars, and had to return two for broken necks. I am exited to have one finally, but Epi has some  serious QC issues to deal with.

Re: New Epiphones starting to appear?

Just had a phone call that mine has just arrived and is ready for despatch. I may well have been the first in the UK to order a JB Epiphone back in early September, so I've been waiting very patiently for quite some time.  cool Let's hope it's all in one piece!

When it rains it pours!

Last week I went looking for a dealer who may still have stock or guitars on backorder and had no luck.  Just the other day Petty recommended George's Music and as luck would have it they had the guitar in one of their stores and now it is being shipped to Philly and should be here Monday.  By chance I also called ZZounds and was also able to get on their backorder list since they had not sold them all, but delivery is not expected until sometime after March 10th.  Then I get a call this morning from Guitar Center and they have one as well and it is now being shipped to a nearby Guitar Center store.

So now I have three guitars coming to Philly, what's a poor sod to do?  Based on what I have read on this thread I think it would be wise to at least let the two guitars come to George's & Guitar Center and pick the best one and if I get a good one out those two I'll cancel my ZZounds order.

Or could there be any reason to own two of these guitars?

Re: New Epiphones starting to appear?

New to the forums. Got my JB Epi today. Beautiful guitar and sounds great. Have a problem with a couple of the pots... not sure what I'm gonna do about it. Definitely not returning for that.

Nothing is everything...

Keith - all is not lost and I really appreciate the fact that you were willing to help me out.  However, being the sly devil that I am, I searched out the fellow who had sold a few on e-bay and contacted him directly.  He still had 2.  I made a deal with him last night and it is shipping today and should be at my house either Friday or Saturday, depending on UPS.  Hopefully the neck is OK.  It will be alot of fun to go to next Friday's M&G in San Diego and have Joe personally sign my new guitar.

Guess I need to learn how to play the blinkin thing now don't I?

Re: New Epiphones starting to appear?

Well I ordered mine in October from AMS.....UPS lost it for a while but got it yesterday 2/9/11....I have a twisted head stock....I've seen a couple of guys have that same s__t to....Damn.....BUT the sound is great....pops and pick-ups the best I ever used...

Are those headstocks scarf joints like regular Epi standards?  That may explain the breakage.

Not sure what a scaf joint is,I didn't even pick it up,just closed the case and called Zzounds. It's boxed up and ready to go back. I use aftermarket necks on the ones I build,Carvins and Warmoth mostly, never seen so many doing the same thing. So far from different stites - 3 busted headstocks,1 broke neck,1 bad neck joint,2 twisted necks. So Sad.  I got a Lp project going on,maybe I'll just throw that into high gear. If my Joe LP come's it comes ,if not somebody send me some Burst Buckers please. tongue

Re: New Epiphones starting to appear?

Well...after all this time I just got a call from GC that my replacement (for a broken neck) is in.  I'm nervously on my way to pick it up....we're going to open it together.  If it's good I'll be playing it tonight until I can no longer move my fingers.

Re: New Epiphones starting to appear?

UPS driver must have been too busy or too scared to walk up my iced over driveway today. He tossed the box out at the end of my driveway and hurried off.

Well at least you got yours Andy! UPS has been only semi helpful so far. My driveway is screwed with all the snow and the driver did 3 drivebys while I was away on work assignments. I did stop by the Rochester UPS depot on Friday only to learn that they close at 7 and the driver wasn't due back until 8:30. Also they are closed from 7 PM Friday until noon on Monday.
I was unable to have them deliver it to my girlfriend's house (bureaucratic BS). So now it's sitting at the UPS depot until Tuesday when they will send it back to AMS. If I don't get there by 7 PM tomorrow it looks like I need to take a day off on Monday (bastids!). And I still don't know if mine has a warped or cracked neck...  roll
