I really do not understand that BFG signature model... did anyone ever see Gary play one, or was this another one of gibson's "great marketing" ideas?

Gary chose to play one of the original BFGs in black. That led to an endorsement model being created. It was not a fabricated marketing move.

Re: RIP Gary Moore

Gar Moore was and still is my all time favourite guitarist, it's still very hard to believe he's not with us anymore, I am thankful for the many years I had sitting in my bedroom when I was growing up, listening to his music and the other music I found threw Gary's guitar playing, there is a gig happening locally which I am taking part in, it's for the Macmillan Cancer Research Fund, mainly to show appreciation for RJDio, where there will be five tribute bands taking part, of which I will be involved with two of them (Cream & Thin Lizzy)and I've been asked to pay my own tribute to Gary Moore and play Parisienne walkways, I will be very honoured to do so, as well as being very nervous and emotional.... Wish me luck!!
R.I.P Gary Moore

Re: RIP Gary Moore

Posted this link on the 'Other Artist' section although this interview might be of interest in the 'Gear' section as well. Nice interview with GM at Marshall. He's very relaxed and in good humour here. Quite a bit of banter about gear in here as you would expect, but I love it at 01.00 when he remembers his first visit to the Marshall factory to order gear for G-Force.

Even he chuckles at the memory of it. Must have been the salesman's dream!
