Topic: RIP Gary Moore

For those of you that dont venture out of this section, I will re-post. It is with a heavy heart that I have to inform you that Gary Moore passed away. He was a huge influence on my own playing and Still Got The Blues was one of my very first blues albums when I was a kid.

Re: RIP Gary Moore

I just found out about 5 minutes ago and my hands have been shaking...I cannot believe this is true.  Wow....TOO YOUNG.  It seems he passed in his sleep.  So odd and such a devastating blow to music.  Nobody has done more for rock, blues, the electric guitar, and especially the Les Paul.  Hands down one of the best guitarists of all time.  Thrill is Gone feat Gary Moore and Still Got the Blues.....YOUTUBE IT.  sad   sad   sad   sad   sad

Re: RIP Gary Moore

I still can't believe it. I thought that maybe it was just an internet rumor at first. Then I saw it was on the BBC and officially announced by Thin Lizzy's people. What a huge loss to the music world. I probably wouldn't be playing guitar, and I probably would have never gotten into rock/blues. Devastating.

Re: RIP Gary Moore

I'm so sad:-( One of my very few idols has passed away. I was looking forward to see him again on the opening consert of this years Notodden Bluesfestival (a major bluesfestival in Norway), but that's not gonna happen....

Rest in peace dear Gary, and thank you for all your wonderful songs, playing and influence. Your music and memory will live forever! May your family get the strength needed to continue without you.

Love,
André

Re: RIP Gary Moore

I really loved his style of getting into the blues.... RIP.

I don't charge for mistakes. - Joe Bonamassa

Re: RIP Gary Moore

Wow. Very sad day. I first started listening with Corridors of Power back in 1982 or so. Just a giant, monster guitarist with one of the most powerful tones anywhere. He will be missed.

Re: RIP Gary Moore

so sad. Have to say I did n't believe it when the Mrs read the news out from the BBC website, and reminded of one of my favourite songs of his "Don't believe a word" which he played superbly as a solo artist.

This is really worth taking 6 or so minutes out to watch, - 4 min 30 secs it takes off!

I hope that he has hooked up with Phil already and they are jamming away up there.

Re: RIP Gary Moore

Gary is gone?!!  This is some of the worst news that I can imagine.  Another guitar wizard gone before I had the chance to see him live.  He will be sorely missed and leaves a huge vacuum in my world.

Vaya con Dios, compadre.  You've been called home to join all the legends that went before you.  That has to be one heck of a band that's been assembled up there - SRV, Jimi, Muddy Waters, Gary...

Re: RIP Gary Moore

A few years ago Gary Moore said Bonamassa was copying him and jumping around too much in different styles and that he should stick to just one distinct style.  Joe in his humble fasion took it for what it was and wouldn't say a bad thing about
Gary even though all of us were sticking up for Joe and were mad as hell by the remarks Gary made.  I listened to Gary quite a bit until he made those remarks and really never in my mind forgave Gary for slaming Joe.  I feel pretty terrible that he has passed and I've carried that feeling of "Oh he's against Joe so I'm against Gary" mind set for so long.

Gary where ever you buddy I'm sorry I shut you out.  I wish your family well, and we can all take comfort in the fact that you will live on in your music...  We love you Gary.

Re: RIP Gary Moore

Absolutely numb.

One of the greatest natural players I have ever heard. King of blues shredding. How the #### can anyone play so fast?

#### a duck.

I'm listening the Still Got the Blues....go Gary, go.

"Who wants an orange whip? Orange whip? Orange whip? Three orange whips...."

JB LP Goldtop No. 290- Aged...rather like me.

Re: RIP Gary Moore

I am sick.  Gary is one of my all time favorites.  My first experience was when I bought Corridors of Power when I was in college  I have been hooked ever since.  He played with gut-wrenching emotion.  Just when you thought

Re: RIP Gary Moore

For some reason my whole post was not printed.  Just when you thought "He can't bend that note any farther." He did.  He had it all.  He played with a ton of feeling, and the kind of chops that only come from endless hours of guitar playing and God-given talent.  This will take a while to recover from.. The blues rock world has lost a true guitar master.  May God be with his family during this difficult time.

Re: RIP Gary Moore

Gary has so many great vinyl albums and CD's out there..it would hard for me to say which one is my favorite one...but if I had to pick it would be from the 80's for sure. ...We Want Moore....Live at the Marquee...Rockin Every night (all live sets)..would be my top 3...the speed Gary had was incredible.........I'm so sad since Gray's is gone,my Steelers lost and this all happened yesterday on my birthday.... R.I.P

And so castles made of sand melts into the sea, eventually.........

Re: RIP Gary Moore

I knew of him, but didn't really follow his music that closely. I feel bad because I really want to keep him alive by going into his catalog and recognizing his greatness, but it's unfortunate when people like me take a further interest in his music simply because of his passing. sad I also dislike how an artist's stock goes up simply because some passes away... their sig. guitars go for more money, etc. And for what? to who's benefit?
I digress.

RIP Gary

Ask me about my handwound Great Lakes Guitar Pickups
Since 2010, Bonamassa fans have taken advantage of my JB friend discount = my cost + shipping. cool

Re: RIP Gary Moore

Sad new indeed ..great player and one of those who got me into the Blues Rock thing for the first time around 10-12 years ago ..I've played either "Oh Pretty Woman" or "Walking by Myself" even in sets for rock bands over the years ..I'd also thought (hoped) that this was intenet rumor and hadn't posted until now.

With regards stock increase / interest etc. ..I nearly puchased one of his lemon drop BFG models via ebay on Saturday morning which sold for £585 ..I think it's fair to say that you won't see another for that price for a while.
