Topic: American Idol 2011

I love American Idol, I love the new season, and I love Steven,J-Lo, & Randy.

I think Steven Tyler is one of the most interesting characters, very funny and very sweet. Love his rock style everything.  He definitely has some very "colorful" quips & ditties and is great on the sing-a-long.

If you saw last nights episode, you definitely were witness to one of those magical right moments in life.  One of the contestants fiancees' was in an accident and now confined to wheelchair, they had him wheel her in and Steven Tyler was an absolute angel to her.

I know there are other American Idol fans out there, because I remember past discussions.
Unbelievable voices out of some of the 15 & 16 yr olds last night.  That one 16 yr old guy in the very beginning sounded just like Randy Travis....

P.S.  I still have an unused ticket to see Aerosmith.  I was all set to see them when Steven started having his health issues.  I even had a wild patterned scarf to throw at him   tongue my consolation prize was Paul Rodgers with Queen   big_smile

Re: American Idol 2011

I like it too Patty.  I never watched it before because I absolutely could not watch Paula and Simon.  I didn't think I would like Jennifer Lopez either but I do. What I like about it now is that they have taken the MEAN out of 'American Idol'.  They seem to understand that some of these kids they are talking to are about to have their dreams shattered and they handle it so well.  Randy's still a little rough at times, but I simply love Steven Tyler.  smile

Heck... that' the only reason i ever watched.  I loved watching those train wrecks who thought they could sing get slamed by Simon.

Tyler belongs back with the band, IMHO

Re: American Idol 2011

Patty,
If you like Steven Tyler, you should facebook friend Lynn Ring, who is also a Joe fan.  Lynn has been extremely supportive of StringsforaCURE and since her girlfriend is married to one of the KISS dudes, she is spreading the word among musicians in the circle she travels and has gotten some verbal commitments for guitar strings for the foundation.

I flicked by the Idol show briefly and just saw one performance, the male teacher assistant...shoulder length hair, black glasses, shorts---he was awesome!!  Jennifer said he was the BEST so far, really great vocals!

Also, I don't know if you ever read on the forum when I mentioned that Steven Tyler's dad and my hubby's first guitar teacher from the 70's were buddies in WWII and in the Army band together.  My hubby kept in contact with this guy, he fixed/tuned up problematic guitars for him, until he passed away...cool stories... Steven's real last name is Tallarico.

Steven Tyler has the BEST scream in rock n' roll.  Im BACK in the saddle again...

I always love your posts Angela, I sure hope I get to meet you someday.  I thought AI tonite was great, too and that last girl knocked it out of the park.  That Steven is just so darn sweet. What a softie.  Wouldn't you love to be at a party with him?  I think it would spell F.U.N.  I agree with you on the BEST.  Are the cool stories in print anywhere to read?  I'm glad you're BACK in the sadlle again.  Gotta have some one to talk shop with....lol.... That one guy tonight sounded a lot like Rod Stewart....which reminds me one time after a Joe show in St. Joseph (how appropo) Joe had his lanyards available and we were talking about them and the gold ringie thing from 001. (I swear there was magic in it.)  He had an all-access pass to Rod Stewart.  He said, "Patty, if Rod Stewart was in town tonight, you could go, and go anywhere you wanted to."  To which I replied, "Joe Bonamassa if Rod Stewart was in town tonite I would still be right here seeing you   wink  "    p.l.j.

Re: American Idol 2011

I was watching American Idol tonight.  Tonight was the night they finished picking the top 24 to be on the actual show this coming Tuesday.  I missed it the last couple seasons because I didn't really dig the singers they chose.

But this year, I am just floored with some of the talent they have on there.  I glad to see a number of the guys I like have made it through smile   I loved the varied styles of voices and singing style of these guys and don't really need a winner because I would pick up something with all these guys on it.

For my country side, where did you get this voice at 16?, does it for me and loved his song choice.

Re: American Idol 2011

American Idol is one of the things that has killed the music industry.

When I was a child I spoke as a child, But all I heard was how I should get ahead,
Now growing up it ain't anything but all This indecision with these debts and doubts
And worries hanging over my head. When I was a child I spoke as a child,
I wish I could remember what I said.

Re: American Idol 2011

There are many immature fumblings contestants who trying to find their feet in industry through ratings-generating of people and judges vote.

Re: American Idol 2011

Glad to see that some of my top choices made it.  Sorry to see Clint didn't make it.  But he ended it with a fun song that fits his personality.  Top-rate Clint at 1:19 at setting up your perfect yeah-screams with the shoulder dipped heys.  Killed on that part.

I agree totally.  Simon wasn't mean, he said what he actually meant.  He was mean occasionally, but when I proffered my opinions in the presence of my sister and friends, Simon would almost be mimicking me, word for word details.  So maybe I am mean too! He pulled no punches, blew little smoke up their.....smokestacks.  I never liked the show.  I was care taking and in my place, it never was watched.  Is not still.  I'd rather watch black & white I Love Lucy or Andy Griffith shows...

Remember "Idol" was exported to the US by Simon. He knew what he was doing before he brought the show to the US, and being brutal with his comments. He tells the truth, if someone sucks..... he tells them! I also remember, Randy once telling Simon "You can't talk to people like that ...man!!" Simon says what we're actually thinking,... mostly! IMO, and that's at the core of his popularity.
I used to watch.... but, once you've seen it, it all becomes homogenized.IMO.
