Topic: Steelers going to the Super bowl for #7

Since the Steelers are playing home again...they will probably beat the Jets.
I think they have an excellent chance of going to the Super Bowl for #7 Ring.
See what happens......I am a bit amazed myself......:)    "Go Steelers"

Re: Steelers going to the Super bowl for #7

I hope your Steelers do win - but a lot of people thought the Jets wouldn't make it past the Patriots!

Lots of Steeler fans in New England this weekend.

Re: Steelers going to the Super bowl for #7

Don't think the Steelers are going anywhere after this weekend but home. The Packers and Jets both have tremendous momentum going and this morning I heard Ronnie Lott on the radio pick both of them to win, Ronnie was 4-4 on last weeks games. I personally made a bold prediction to my posse that I watch with most weekends that the winner of the Packer/Falcon game would be your Super Bowl winner. I like the Pack's chances and have to root for my JuCo alumni Aaron Rodgers. A Packers/Jets Super Bowl would be the most exciting matchup, IMHO.

The Packers may be the ones packing after this weekend. And the Steelers might get the home field advantage stolen from right under Rothlisberger's unbrokened [sic] nose.......

But for a change, all 4 teams are truly contenders to go all the way!

Halftime now and the Black and Gold are up by 21, so it's looking like a trip to Dallas. Sorry Jane.  I do like the link though.   Steelers and the Packers.  Truly an epic match up.

Take care everyone. And if I don't meet you no more in this world
Then ill, I'll meet you in the next one and don't be late, don't be late

Re: Steelers going to the Super bowl for #7

Man what a scare. Hats off to the Jets. They sure made it close. Great game. The Steelers are gonna have their hands full with the Pack. Arron Rogers is no Sanchez or Flacco.  Epic match up.

Steelers had their hands full TODAY.  Lots of embarrassing play, always away from or getting let slide by the zebras. Downright dirty play! Looked more like a nefarious crude crew of Raider styled infamy.  The team is too good for that.  Not making excuses for the Jets, I liked all the teams. Probably pull for the Pack after what I saw today, but if Pittsburgh can play decent, fair and square and superior at the Super Bowl, major congratulations will be in order.  For the record, every face-to-face conversation I had about football picked the Steelers & Packers to win. Like I had said and it played out pretty well, all were contenders for a change. Great Championship Games and the champs advance! Hopefully the game will be all game and no f'ing hype.

Hey Jeff......the spanking last night in the 1st half was something else....I think the Steelers were told to let them come back a bit in the 2nd half so the Jets would not look so bad......& all of the Bookies & " Vegas" high rollers were losing their shirts on the point spread......

Rocket, the thing about the Steelers is, they sometimes do it ugly, they sometimes do it tough, they sometimes do it in spite of themselves, but more than any other team over the years, they usually win. It's all about the results, baby!

And while no team is immune from scandals (Big Ben?), over time the Steelers organization has operated with class and smarts. I won't say they're my favorite team, but I do respect them... and if the Packers are smart, they will too!

For myself, my money's on the Steelers. I think the real Super Bowl was played a couple of weeks ago when the Steelers beat the Ravens.

Re: Steelers going to the Super bowl for #7

Looking at various sports sites today, I see that the Packers are anywhere from a 1 to 3 point favorite.  I'm pulling for the Steelers but I think I'll keep my cash in my pocket for this one.  Way too close to call.

More than any other team over the years? Wrong-O! Bears, Packers, Giants (and others) have more wins over the years.  IF you mean post season, Dallas Cowboys have more.  If you mean Super Bowl only, not including pre Super Bowl NFL Championships, OK, no argument possible there.  But I will plug my San Francisco 49ers team, the only team in the League not formed pre-WWII and still in top 10 all time wins.  And they have not lost a Super Bowl.  And up there for number of Super Bowl wins until the Steelers jumped ahead.  When they make it there they take it there!
I might remind you youngsters that the Pittsburgh Steelers were the worst (toss a coin for the Saints) team in the NFL for years before the merger and sending them to the AFC.  They might've been relegated to the embarrassing fate the Saints (until their recent change of luck) if not for that.  But they have rebuilt from those days of course, and have become iconic and grandly historic and famous.  To the point people jump the bandwagon.  The best TEAM will win the Super Bowl this year, not the best organization (arguments about which organization is better are moot).  I wish both good luck, cheer for both, avoid halftime balderdash and keep fingers crossed what may be the last NFL game of 2011 is a doozy!

Rocket, I guess any measurement of a team's success that doesn't go back to the birth of professional football could be considered an arbitrary measurement, but that could also unfairly favor the oldest teams.

If we start at the AFL-NFL merger that many say is the birth of the "modern" NFL, Pittsburgh is tied with Miami as the winningest franchise, with a record of 372-242-2. (Yes, they both have this same identical record!) However, in the post-season, Miami is 20-20 and Pittsburgh is 31-18, the best record of any team in the NFL. Dallas is tops in the NFC with records of 367-249 overall and 32-21 in the playoffs, which is more wins than Pittsburgh, granted, but overall a lower winning percentage. Also, Pittsburgh is 6-1 in Super Bowls, while Dallas is 5-2. Even head to head in the Super Bowl, Pittsburgh has the edge over Dallas, 2 wins to 1.

Again, I don't state this as a Steelers fan, although I will be rooting for Ward, Polamalu and the rest for this one. On the other hand, I'm not a big fan of Brett Favre, especially after his antics of the past few years, so for Green Bay to win one without him would be satisfying on that level, too. Both franchises have a rich history, so I am in agreement that hopefully the best team will win. I'm just thinking that means Pittsburgh. smile

Re: Steelers going to the Super bowl for #7

I have no horse/dog in this race.  And my lil bit of change shall remain in my pocket.  Probably just to be contrary,  tongue  I'll let MsTia pick and then bet against her,   lol  lol

I'm a DolFan.  The only time I ever voted for the Jets was in a game against Brady  wink   or in the olden days against Jim Kelly.  Kinda hoping Roy;s homeboys will take it though.  I believe it will depend, in the end, on defence, rather than the QBs.

As coach Denny Green might have said, the Jets weren't who we thought they were!!!! Maybe if they'd tackled the runner instead of the ball in the first half they wouldn't have had to dig themselves out of a hole. Go Aaron Rodgers!!!!
