Im really excited about this, after trying the ht-5 and thinking it was perfect but just not quite powerful enough and the s1-45 being to expensive, this new series could be perfect for me. It includes a 20w combo, 20w head, 40w combo, 2 60w combos and a 100w head. According to the forum at harmony central the prices will range from £350-£750 (not sure about US price).

Heres a vid of one of the new models:

Dont be too enthusiastic! lol

Re: New Blackstar HT series

I've heard of people getting rid of their Buddas and Riveras for this amp. To me, that's a BOLD statement.

Has anyone played one yet? Do they live up to the buzz????  hmm

Re: New Blackstar HT series

I stopped by their booth at NAMM.  Very nice amps.  The big ones were four channel amps in various tube configurations - EL34, 6L6, 6V6.  I could use maybe two to three of the four channels.  The fourth had too much gain for my style.  That said, the combos also sounded real nice.  I didn't care much for the 5 watter.  It just didn't have enough "umph" for me.  It could've been the speaker though.

Guitars: '79 LP Custom, '01 Dickey Betts Goldie - 80 of 114, '00 Chandler Lectraslide
Amps: '00 Marshall 1987x, '70 Marshall 1959 SL, 4x12 JBL D120s
'64 Vibroverb - JBL D130, '66 Super Reverb - CTS Alnicos
'77 Peavey Deuce (great for melting stubborn ear wax)

Re: New Blackstar HT series

Word is their 40 watt combo is in a big box. Much taller, wider, and deeper combo cab than it's competitors. Sounds like it was built with top notch quality too. Who knows? Might end my 12 year streak of playing Riveras. I always said if I play through something better, I'd unload it and move up.

Re: New Blackstar HT series

I'd say give it a try.  It has a really nice dynamic power scaling control that lets you dial back the power to 10% (200w to 20w) and the Infinite Shape Feature adjusts the tone control section to go from an American to British sound.  Really nice AND they look super cool.  Wish I had money for yet another amp.

Another amp you might want to give a listen to is PRS.  They are high quality all the way - from the wood accents on the cab to the ckt. construction.  They're made by Doug Sewell, who used to make his own line of amps.  Very nice sounding.  He showed me the internals - all hand wired and very cleanly done.
