Re: NFL 2010/11 SEAS0N

I agree halfway guys about Coughlin, but he would've lost respect from 7 million New Yorkers if he didn't.  The New York press is ruthless, and even though they would've been (likely are in today's papers there) all over the rookie, they would be calling for firing not only him but the Coach also. Roy, Jackson was running down the goal line to make sure time had actually expired.
Great comeback win for the Eagles!

Even worse Rocket...he threw a kid under the bus to shield himself from criticism? To quote a very famous man....Bah!
I do agree that Jackson was being smart and making sure that time ran out so they didn't have to kick-off.

BAH! Is right! I would NEVER have done that until the locker room! And, in defense, punting is not all that easy......nor field goal attempts.

Re: NFL 2010/11 SEAS0N

I felt very bad for the punter being humiliated on national tv, then to have a name like Dodge. (as in that expression get out of dodge)  I thought Coughlin redeemed himself a little bit in the news conference, as in it should have never come down to the kick, it still could have waited until the locker room.  And what about all the guys DeSean ran threw!! It was an against all odds kind of ending, Coughlin was understandably frustrated.

I hope DeSean is over his playful end zone stunts, its cost him a few times.

And it looks like the Bears just won, I'm sure Bill is happy.  smile I wonder if Brett Farve will be calling it quits?

Yeah Angela...pleased but a bit apprehensive. It's hard to criticize a 10-4 team, but they have shown some Jekyl & Hyde tendencies.
They sure looked great tonight. And how about Devin Hester!!!! Game changer.

So Coughlin coughed up an apology at the press conference, huh? Well it was down to the kick is one thing, as is throwing down your headset, ball cap, placards, kicking the dirt, knocking over a liquid replenishment container and kicking over a bench or 2, but not waiting until the locker room...... -points coach, regardless of contrition ratio!
I keep saying guys need to learn how to tackle in the NFL.  Teams will go down at critical junctures from here to the end of the season for lack of doing so properly...Winning a regular season game is just that, no playground or high scholl shenanigans with celebrations, so sick of it, from all teams, as it as become a stupid culture.  Let fans doing the wacky, wacked out stuff (again)...they pay to do it after all.  Favre is FIRED finally, by me.  He can't quit.  He's fired. GO home.

Time had run out long before DeSean performed his goal line prance guys; I agree with Angela. Jackson is a young hot dog and we'll see him continue to do this over and over. Whatever happened to class, as in scoring a touchdown and simply handing the ball to the referee?

A famous coach once said, "When you get to the end zone, act like you've been there before." DeSean and others like him need to learn that.

The Bears looked tough last night! And don't be surprised if Favre ends up in Arizona next year. wink

Bill,
I hear you loud and clear and feel the same exact way about Jekyl & Hyde...a fan always wonders which one will show up to play, like when we played you!  big_smile I didn't watch the whole game but saw Hester get 2 touchdowns...he set some kind of record and the ball is going in the hall of fame?

Roy,
I thought DeSean had matured a little bit since becoming an Eagle rookie, but hanging out on the T.O. show is moving in the wrong direction, didn't see it just hearsay...I'm finding the whole cloud surrounding Mike Vick to be an experiment in the human condition.  People hate him for the past, people love him for the present, people don't want to love him because they hate him, but he's winning... He could be  a big BS artist, but I think he deserves a second chance and the man upstairs will pass judgement on him...  Anyway, Philly seems to have a pattern of drama and it looks like Donovan McNabb has also been publicly humiliated.  My husband told me not to feel sorry for him, he's laughing all the way to the bank.  (money makes it hurt less)

Devin broke the all time NFL record for punts/kick-offs returned for TD's. Hester had been tied with Brian Mitchell (who spent a few years with the Eagles) at 13, but ran back #14 last night to break the record. To put things in proper perspective, Mitchell took 14 years to reach 13 TD returns...Hester has run back 14 for TD's in just 5 years! He is ridiculous.

Wow, upset city as the favorites go home on opening day of the playoffs. Who would have predicted the Saints would lose to losing record Seahawks? yikes

There was a time when I would have been excited for the Seahawks, but not with Sneeky Pete @ the helm. Can't wait for Harbaugh to rub his nose in it again. If the NFL has any sense of humor they'll schedule the Seahawks vs. 49ers on opening day.

No offense taken George, as a longtime Eagle fan, I'm accustomed to the tease without the delivery.  hmm  My dad's 87 years old, I'm still hoping he sees the Eagles win the super bowl someday, I might have to change my expectations on that to my kids lifetime.  But I am curious, is the hate because of Vick's past?  Were you surprised that Obama commended Eagles owner for giving Vick a second chance?  Personally, this is a situation where the internet and media buzz sickens me, especially on a slow news day, how stories go wild, like Tucker Carlson's comment.  roll I could do without all the drama!

Hey Stu, I was thinking of you during the Seahawks game, great win.  smile  I always wonder how much $$$$ was lost in betting with an upset like that. By any remote chance, did you watch that college football game with Washington (the ones that have that red field) against Univ. of Del., what a 4th quarter comeback!!

Jane, Good Luck, I'm a Flaco fan!
