I must have a calendar in my memory banks because I have been thinking alot about G this last week. RIP Cathy
I have had <G> on my mind this month as well. Each New Years's Eve will be bittersweet for me from now on. This New Years' Eve I had a special concert for <G> . I watched DVD's of Joe B, JIm Suhler and Monkey Beat , and The Blues Caravan DVD with Aynsley Lister and Ian Parker music that <G> introduced me to. Excecpt for the Joe B which is the website where we met. I don't post much these days but will be posting more this year as I plan to share the music <G> loved and photos he took fo out favorite musicians.

I hear ya, David. I still haven't been able to delete <G>'s name and email from my address book. Silly, but I kind of like having it there. Was just looking through his pbase galleries the other day at http://www.pbase.com/closeencounters

Hey everyone I made some cd copies of a Joe B. Band show from 2004, August 7, 2004 in Cedar Rapids at the Bluesmore mansion fest or something like that - I didn't have it labeled exactly properly. (Thanks to Grinnel for this show originally) anyway since Joe's taping policy allows us to share them, if anyone would like a copy mailed to a us address please send me an email with the address. unfortunately it costs too much to ship out of the country nowadays so i am going to restrict this offer to US addresses.
I have made a stack and really enjoy sharing so it really is my pleasure. when i run out of what i burned i still have blanks but it may take me alot longer to get them out but i will do my best and/or close the offer here if i can't. (btw anyone i promised something to but didn't fuflil please let me know i may have lost the details thanks)The reason i want to share it is I remember discussing this show with Garth. I don't remember all the details exactly but i am sure that he was at this particular show and I just remember having a great convo about the performance of Pain and Sorrow that show. Its a good sounding recording and a great setlist IMO. Anyway i would like to share it and I like to think maybe <G> can hear it up there when we play it somewhere or something. I dunno, until i find a better way................
email me if you want one
still have a few copies of this and for those who dug the recent video link someone posted, this show has If Six Were Nine/Spanish Castle Magic
email me if you want one thanks
(then send me points on jbxp - just joking.... )
I was the respondee to the first offer and for those who missed, this is an utterly fantastic show. Audio of soundboard quality with the old power trio strat band tearing it up with an EIGHTEEN MINUTE TRACK OF PAIN AND SORROW! Thanks ever so much Jane.
It will be two years since <G> passed on Dec. 31 from cancer. I want to honor my blues brother by offering some of his rare Joe items from his private collection in exchange for donations to cancer research. Instead of celebrating the New Year I now have a new tradition of honoring the memory of a freind who passed well before his time. I will be watching Dvd's of the music we both loved and that brought us together in the first place. It will include Joe of course, The Hoax, Aynsley Lister, Ian Parker, and Indigenous. PLeasse take time during the Holidays to remember those who are gone but will never be forgotten.
Please see the topic "Rare Joe in <G> Memory" under General topics for more information on the Rare Joe items I am offering.

I'm fortunate enough to have a few CDs from <G>'s collection. They will be broken out tomorrow and the new year rung in, in appropriate fashion.

Consider it done. Don't forget to include Gentlemen's Blues Club :-)
Sorry to hear, new here so never knew him but sounds like he was loved by many ! May he rest in peace.
Tomorrow night will be 5 years since <G> left us. His spirit lives on each time I share the music of Joe Bonamassa, The Hoax, Indigenous, Aynsley Lister, The Chris Aaron Band (RIP Chris),The Buddaheads or the Gentlemen's Blues Club. Please take time this New Year's Eve to celebrate <G>'s life and the impact he had on our own. Join me in a toast to <G> and continue to share the music in his memory. Happy New Year everyone and please be safe.

Thanks for bringing this up each anniversary...I will indeed share some of that great music.
BTW, my avatar came from <G>'s collection.
Pancreatic cancer is aggressive, and hasn't seen the improvements in treatment that some others have. My wife lost her dad to the disease as well.
In addition to remembering those lost, there is also an easy way to give at no cost to you. I don't know if the smile program from Amazon is global, but if you shop on Amazon and have not yet chosen a charity to receive donations based on your purchases, you can go to https://smile.amazon.com/about and choose a charity to receive a donation equal to 1/2% of your purchases. I just checked, and the Lustgarten Foundation is available on the list.

I will always be grateful for the music he turned me onto. You and I continue the deep admiration for the Hoax, and I hope you have "Recession Blues" David. I will also always remember his wonderful spirit and humor. Thanks for the reminder and know you were a good friend who has continued to honor him
It is 6 years ago today that <G> aka Garth Close my blues brother left us. As I do every year since that time join me in a toast to one of the biggest Joe fans ever to celebrate his too short time on the planet. The best way to remember <G> is to share new music with others as he did. I miss <G> ever day but I will NEVER forget him. Happy New Year everyone and be safe.
