Re: BCC Wolverhampton

Thanks to everyone who's posted so far. Great videos, Adie. I'm having a few pc issues at the moment but will have some of mine to post asap. I did shoot Too Late For The Sun on Maggie's camera which I'm not used to so I'm not sure how it will turn out, Jane but it was really good. Nice to have it in the set.
Libby!....I didn't know you were there. Sorry I didn't see you. There was certainly quite a Bonagathering. Didn't get to see Kay and Rus or Adie either  sad
I got to the venue at about 5.30pm and joined Maggie, Michael, Rocket, Lyn, Laurence and Marlies (Bonapostle) and Craigbev with his daughter Jessica at the start of the queue. We were shortly joined by Geoff and Sue, Icon and Maxx, Pete59, Triggermala and Mandy and DevonJohn. Also met a very nice guy called Derek who comes originally from Aberdeen (I think). Told him about the forum etc.
When the doors opened at 7 there was a bit of a panic. The guy who was scanning the tickets on our door had a faulty scanner and was dithering about while people were getting in at all the other doors! He was nearly knocked down and trampled on in our desperation to get in quickly. Anyway we were soon in and positioned in the first few rows. I saw Maggie chatting to a young man....our very own Dave Wambarro, nice to meet you too, Dave. Oh and I mustn't forget Kenny and his mate Sandy, so good to meet you too.
Joanne, Virgil and Gabe gave a great performance although the sound quality wasn't too good where I was standing. Nice of Joanne to dedicate Diamonds In The Dirt to Alex, Martin's son who sadly passed away exactly a year ago. I'm sure, Martin, that he was enjoying the music from the best seat in the house smile
Before the Black Country boys took to the stage the dramatic strains of Wagner's Flight of the Valkyrie filled the air. Joe was first on the stage and stood there in semi darkness while the music carried on.....and on...and on lol I thought maybe Glenn was having second thoughts! and then they were all there and stormed straight into Black Country. The pace kept up until Song of Yesterday which was fantastic. Easily one of the highlights of the show for me.
The Ballad of John Henry was very warmly welcomed by the crowd and was a real belter.
Glenn paid a very nice tribute to John Bonham before they played the Trapeze number Medusa. He said he had the very, very good fortune to play the song with the greatest rock drummer of ALL time. A beautiful human being, a magnificent drummer and a wonderful family man and by God do we miss John Bonham ( to which the crowd roared in agreement).
Glenn's vocals were amazing throughout but especially on Medusa I thought.
Another highlight was No Quarter. Derek's keyboards really shone out on this number. It was very atmospheric and went down a treat with the whole crowd.
Joe was really enjoying himself as they all were but I know Joe REALLY enjoyed playing Burn. A song from the Glenn Hughes Deep Purple era that he used to listen to when he were nowt but a lad. A dream come true   cool
I was very lucky to have been at the gig back in September which was a very special event but last night was brilliant with the atmosphere and the crowd in the heart of the Black Country. The boys came, they played, they conquered.

Congratulations Joe, Glenn, Jason and Derek....it was BOSTIN!!

Aww,darn it, Chris. If I'd known all you guys were up front of the queue, I wudda come up.  sad
As I was in the balcony, I hung back a bit & let the first rush of people go for it! The security guy still had his scanner problem when I went in, he had to try 3 or 4 times before my ticket scanned!! Lol.
Whatever the technical fault was at the start (I guess that was what it was) causing that never-ending delay, it certainly heightened the anticipation!! But, hey, it was well worth it!!!
Here's the link for the last of my videos, for "The Great Divide". Enjoy!

Hi Tripsy! big_smile

I hadn't been on the forum for aaages so didn't know there was a Bonagathering.  We were centre of balcony on 2nd row - great seats/view (I'm not so good at standing gigs these days) & right above the sound desk.  Leaning over the balcony I'd spotted the set list and could read some of it - Adie managed to zoom in with his camera & photograph it, what with that & the presence of Joe's theramin on stage, we were getting excited up there!

Love your review - what a night! As you say... BOSTIN!!

Hope everything is good with you.. Happy New Year from me and 'Just John' !!

Re: BCC Wolverhampton

Hi Cheshire_Lass (Libby)

We had a ball for sure, was really nice to have met you, John and your Son. I suppose your Son was disappointed that BCC didn't do "Just Got Paid", but i suppose with the Zep influence, they left it out and gave Derek the honours in "No Quarter" which his performance was amazing.

If your on Facebook, check us out, take care, see you at the next great gig.

Happy New Year to you and the Family.

Hi Michael & Julie / (kohoutek) !!

I'm Libby the female half of the couple from Crewe who sat next to you last night & my OH is John. My youngest son was also with us.

Well as you say, the 3000 people at Wolves Civic had an absolute blast... as did the guys on stage!

For me, even though he was far more reserved than at his solo gigs, Joe stole the show; it's hard not to when you can play like he can! But the whole band were excellent; fantastic playing & energy.

I thought they might introduce Kevin Shirley at the end but maybe he's shy?

Looking forward to the new material & to seeing BCC again next year.

All the best & Happy New Year

Libby & John

Re: BCC Wolverhampton

Hello Michael and Julie,

that was a nice gig to close the year  lol , but I haven't been to one of the two gigs  sad .
Hope to see BCC next year.
And yes, you can book the ferry: 11-12 June 2011 is the date for Schöppingen.

Thanks for your wishes and all the best in 2011 for you and your family.

Re: BCC Wolverhampton

Thanks to all for pics, reviews, vids, even Tweets! It was excited to get "live" info during this show. Sounds like it was historic. I'm sure Joe was glad to see familiar faces!   Cathy

Re: BCC Wolverhampton

Nothing much more I can add except to say that this band needs to be heard on the live stage. These were my 49th and 50th shows of 2010 - what an explosive end to the concert year.
