Re: Grace Potter and the Nocturnals
... and yes, she plays in New York 03/10/11 -- now all I have to do is convince Ben to go there with me. And the next day is my first Allman brothers Beacon run show ... now, wouldn´t that be nice?

For those lucky Florida fans who just got a big dose of Joe, any spare change and Grace just posted this to FB:

Florida, it's been awhile. What better way to spend the first week of March than coming out to see GPN? 3/3 at the The Florida Theatre in Jacksonville, 3/4 at the State Theatre Saint Petersburg , 3/5 at the culture room in Ft. Lauderdale, and 3/6 at The Plaza Theatre in Orlando are all on sale now! Plus 2/10 added at the @[131936073878:15

Rick, who's hoping she comes out west for something besides a free USO show in my backyard that was restricted to the military.

Hey Rick - Her website also shows her playing in San Diego on Feb 3 at the HOB.
I hadn't checked. I hate that venue but for her I'll make an exception! Thanks for the heads up. Just got a pair of great seats orch/box Elwood.
Rick
Until I get my stuff done you folks can watch these videos from the show I went to the other night:

Merry Christmas and play nice. By the way these came from a poster on GPN's forum. Nice bunch of folks there, too.
Sandy
Thanks Sandy. Looks like she puts on a heck of a show. Come on February!

Saw GPN at the State Theater in Portland, ME Saturday night. Finally got all my stuff organized. Very different editing these pictures compared to Joe.
This band is amazing. The energy level is ridiculously high, and the crowd and Grace seem to feed off each other big time. I loved Grace's Hammond playing - boy does she get into her work. Got lots of their older stuff nicely mixed in with the new. I was afraid I would hear all stuff from the new album, glad to see the older songs are still here. Very much a range of song styles, too. Favorites were Stop the Bus and Medicine (especially the "group" drum solo). Matt Burr is a great drummer - my brother (who is a great drummer) loved him "he plays notes", and Benny and Scott are both fantastic guitar players. Cat was absent I guess she has been ill, have to wait for the next time I guess.
Here are my pictures:

Didn't hang out by the bus, but I guess if I had I could have met the band. Maybe next time.
Opener was Blues and Lasers. This is actually the Nocturnals minus Grace and add a second drummer. Good stuff, check it out on their website. A few pictures:

Opener played a long set, and then Grace and the boys did a solid two hour set - I can't believe they (and the audience) were still standing. Great night.
And I meant what I said on Facebook - all you older gentlemen going to see them better bring your portable defribillator with you - you are gonna need it!
Sandy
Nice shots Sandy. Ready and waiting out here for an encore of what you had, I'll bring my medical staff.

Gasp, nurse, the defribillator....uh, the debillifrator.....aw hell, just let me die happy....
I really will have to plan the next USA trip around Grace!
...and thanks for all your efforts Sandy, mucho appreciated!!
Thanks for the pics and videos Sandy, they look great! And good to hear that they´re playing a mix of old and new instead of only focusing on the new album. Did they play some covers too?
I definitely wanna try to see her in NY in March ... but I´m thinking -- maybe I should leave Ben at home??
George - how about a trip in March?
Eva
I'm going to try and get the show up in February. Off to get a 16gb memchip for the camera. That will be good for an hour and a half of raw HDvid. Yeah Eva, better leave Ben at home. If not, just bring the leg irons.
Rick
I'm still certain she wants me...

Apparently my wife has bought tickets to Grace's Milwaukee show for my Xmas present. I am so looking forward to seeing this band live.
