Topic: Your Funeral And My Trial Gear

Hey everyone,

I really like the soloing sound Joe uses on Your Funeral My Trial and I was wondering which pedals he uses there.
The WahWah is obvious but I thought I heard something of an Octafuzz in it too.
I haven't heard them enough to really recognise it, so I could be completely wrong about it, but if anybody knows which pedals he uses or what the complete setup was, that would be really nice  smile

Re: Your Funeral And My Trial Gear

Hey Dude,
I honestly dont remember.   It was recorded in 2005 at the speed of light.  I think and dont hold me to it, it was my 1963 Fender Stratocaster through a Jubilee and a 1970 super lead Marshall amps... Pedals at that point bet a little fuzzy.. The Wah was probably a Vox.  I used those at the time and maybe the octive thing was a fulltone.. Everything else I honestly dont remember.
Thanks
JB

Hey Mr. Bonamassa,
Thanks for answering, I didn't really expect an answer like this, so this is more than enough  wink
Happy Holidays and thanks for bringing this 15 year old into the blues  wink

Re: Your Funeral And My Trial Gear

Cool - that is why I love Joe B this Forum...can you imagine something like this in the late '60's? Jimi Hendrix answering a question personally to a fan about gear? Or Cream era Clapton? Or even Clapton today? I got a personal response once from Joe and I printed it and framed it I was so amazed (my wife just shook her head).  What a class act! At 250-300 shows a year, endless requests for appearances, etc., and the man takes the time to jump onto his site and chat with fellow gearheads...not bad for a "corporate whore who can't write a song"  wink

PS (all of you MUST know I'm referring to a commment on the Gibson website about the JB Epi!) and BTW those who say he can't write a song haven't listened to the 'Great Flood" through a $8500 Bang and Olufsen system (not mine) during a thunderstorm....epic

Gits: '03 Gibson Historic R7 Goldtop, '06 Gibson R8 Plaintop, MIJ '62 RI Strat,  and others...
Amps: '99 Marshall 1987x Plexi RI, 1969 Fender Super Reverb

My band: www.meanbones.com

I can't say that I've had the pleasure to listen to it through that kind of gear, but I can say that the Great Flood track on my RAH DVD has laser burns from all the play it gets.

Here's to Joe and his generous contributions (both to music and his fans) - the definition of a class act!!

Guitars: '79 LP Custom, '01 Dickey Betts Goldie - 80 of 114, '00 Chandler Lectraslide
Amps: '00 Marshall 1987x, '70 Marshall 1959 SL, 4x12 JBL D120s
'64 Vibroverb - JBL D130, '66 Super Reverb - CTS Alnicos
'77 Peavey Deuce (great for melting stubborn ear wax)

Re: Your Funeral And My Trial Gear

Good Day,

+1 for Joe and Kevman13,

Joe consistently fronts up for his fans...He did it for me and I was very grateful.

I am constantly amazed, when people "bad mouth" Joe...I have NEVER met a musician

in my 50 plus years, that allowed, as much accessibility as Joe does to himself, and his

materials, including Video and Audio recordings. NEVER!

Joe has defined what an artist "CAN DO" if they so desire, and what a difference these

actions make...not only to an adult like myself, but to the kids out there.

These kind of acts of kindness, can change a kids..or in my case, an adults life

irrevocably for the better.....I know it did mine...I have played more guitar, and become

a  better musician, directly as a result of meeting Joe, and hearing and seeing, him perform.

Joe Inspired me to work harder at my passion..(Music)  and to EXCEL at my playing.

For that..I'll be forever grateful....

Sadly with this kind of "openness" comes the risks of attacks and hostility..I believe these action

are based on jealousy and misunderstanding,

For those who continue to bad mouth Joe, and attempt to degrade him...I say this..

"They don't KNOW Joe"...and I will continue to defend Joe, when necessary, on my watch...

because....I KNOW...what kind of person Joe is...I've met the man behind the music.

Thanks Joe......Keep playing and I'll keep buying your CD's, and coming to your concerts..

Cheers
