That's all he wanted. Tragically, 30 years ago today, John Lennon was murdered.

RIP John...

I remember it all too well.  My first semester in college.  Not a good day.  RIP  John

Those times were so chaotic, great people gunned down by idiots, John added to the pyre was heartbreaking.

Re: "Give Peace a Chance"...October 9, 1940 to December 8, 1980

it is hard to believe it's been 30 years. It was first announced on Monday Night Football, I was still up watching the Pats vs the Dolphins. They replayed the broadcast on ESPN this morning, Howard was elected more or less to break the bad news. What was more interesting was Howard and Frank's dialogue before they came back from the break. Roone Arledge had said you can report it or not, yous guys call. Howard didn't want to do it at first, but Frank talked him into it. The way he reported it still sounded strange, very matter of fact, almost prankish.
I didn't cry but was extremely verklempt, cut the game off and went to bed.

He didn't mince words. I think this is what I really liked about him most, straight shooter, no BS. The entire final interview out this Friday.

Hey Tres,

I also heard that he was actually a very nice person . I remember reading an article where a guy had came to their home to do some sort of work, not sure if it was phone, electrical, etc. John wandered into the room where the fellow was working and sat down just to talk with him. Apparently, the workman couldn't believe that he was just holding a "guy" conversation with John Lennon and just how genuine he was. Lessons could be learned from that for the young performers of today.
