Topic: new guitar

Hi guys my amp search is over, i have a 69 super reverb i am in love with, btw if u have a super reverb play it on 10 it sounds so good, but i digress. I have a budget of about £800 and i wanna get a new guitar, i currently have a les paul and a tele, i mostly play, blues, rock and soul, i play alot of slide and i havent bought a new guitar for a number of years and i havent a clue what to get. i dont have enough money for a gibson and i am not sure about fenders, can anyone offer me some advice of what line to go down as i am a bit stumped. Those Super Reverbs are great amps for sure but I sold mine. I would take my Marshall over it anyday. I was heavy into SRV back in the '90's and HAD to have the tone.
Anyway, to ask what kind of guitar you should get is ridiculous, as it is such a personal decision. For 800 (pounds is it? I can't seem to find that symbol on my keyboard lol) you should be able to get a pretty sweet USED guitar. Why buy new when you are on a budget? Musicians are always unloading gear cheap - a sweet Strat should be your next guitar IMHO.

Gotta agree with "Kevman" on this one.  It sounds like you have almost all your bases covered so a strat would most likely be in order especially if you're into blues rock.  I'm not much of a slide player, but I've found that the neck of my SG standard has a great feel for playing slide.  It seems a bit wider, but whatever the reason, it's perfect for slide in my opinion.  But hey, Sonny Landreth totally rips it up with a slide and Stratocaster combo.  I can listen to him ALL day and still be amazed! -Seth

Yeah helrazr's right an SG might be a great addition - especially for slide. Derek Trucks kind of re-wrote the book on that one!

I would say a used ES335 or ES345. But as your budget is in that price range I would suggest..... what about a nice Strat? Not THE best guitar for slide, but certainly gives an interesting sound. The Strat has a very unique sound IMHO.
