Re: Ebay Posting

That inspired me to sell off all my stuff too!  For years I've been a guy that like to have a decent amp with good cleans and distortion.  This past year I've bought over 10 pedals, and had 2 amps, and am constantly trying to step on a pedal to get that tone that I need for some part in a song that I'm over saturated on to hide my poor skills as a guitar player.  After I read your post I decided I should go back to what I used to do before my band talked me into all these different things.  1 good amp, no pedals just really loud low wattage amp is what I want to do.  2 strats, and a super strat, and now a squire telecaster that I'm going to trick out!  Clapton only needs 1 amp so why should I have 2?

Thanks for the inspriation Logan.

Re: Ebay Posting

Re: Ebay Posting

Haha dont jump the gun! This was just a bunch of stuff that i had sitting in the corner of my room. I still have 2 OD's (both on my board), a tremelo, delay, and a wah. I will agree with the low wattage amp cranked. I just picked up a 20W hughes & kettner. That thing RIPS! My tubescreamer is set just as a bost, and my pork loin really fattens and smooths things out.

Edit: I paid $500 for the Hughes & Kettner. I cant even say how happy I am with that purchase. It can get loud enough for club gigs, but is also basement friendly. I may also get a statesman to pair with it.. hmmmmmm

Re: Ebay Posting

...and I've just got rid of a pricey amp and half a dozen pedals over this month.

After a Cornell Plexi (loads of ebay last month - one great one on now, but can't get to pick it up because I'm under snow)

What went on with the 800?

Re: Ebay Posting

it just wasnt basement friendly... just WAY to loud for me. It needs to go to someone who can use it more.

Re: Ebay Posting

Yeah, I went through a phase few years ago when I was really into all things Steve Vai, and had 2 amps, a small arsenal of whacky pedals.

I continued playing and mixing 2 amps, and scaled down my board, but I've really been liking my tone and setup with a small watt amp with 2X12 cabs.  Basic Reverb, short Delay in the loop, and Trem, Uvibe, Fuzz, and OD in front.  I've even been using another 15w head for leads with a longer delay in FX loop already turned on.  I just hit the A/B box and turn on the second head and I have a nice volume boost and longer delay for solos.  I keep my delays and reverb on a rack mount shelf with my wireless back with the amps since they are always on.  The result is a nice clean smaller board with few pedals going into an A/B box and to the front of 2 amps.

Blending amps is cool, a pain, but cool.. But I've seen some people do it, mic the cabs, go into the PA and come out with a mono signal on both sides of the PA.  No panning and the result is a glob of sound compacted on itself with no separation of delay/reverb and it's nothing like what he, the guitar player, is hearing on stage.  Pointless!  -Seth

Re: Ebay Posting

I was keeping one pedal.  Boss MT-2 I bought a month ago and its got more distortion on tap then anything I've ever owned.  Not keeping any boost pedals though.  I really like not having to step on anything and using a volume knob.  Decided my amp which is a piece of junk I would loose too much on that deal to sell it on ebay for $100, its cheaper to keeper type deal.  Plus I'd need an amp anyways so there you go.  My real plan is to talk my dad into selling his blues jr. that used to be mine.  I sold it to him thinking more power and 5 amps later I'm still blown away by a simple volume control on a strat, and that amp cranked.  Lots of mojo going on there would hate to see what nice hand wired amps would sound like.

Re: Ebay Posting

thats good stuff. i totally learned the volume knob thing from Joe. My pedals are for coloration mostly...
