Topic: What leads are you lot using?

I use planet waves, have done for a couple of years but now I've had a couple pack in on me.
I have this one lead that I got with my les paul that is incredible (gold sockets, silver connections), can't find out where to buy them now though as Rosetti have changed them.
Who is using what?

Re: What leads are you lot using?

Mogami 2524 with the Neutrik Silent Jack.

The Mogami just seems a nice cable and fairly 'what you put in you get out'. No need to change them currently. PW always broke on me. Zero noise. Tough and thick...they still bloody twist though!

Whoever invented those silent jacks...hats off...one of the best inventions for the guitar player, period.

George L's didn't do it for me...too much high end as I remember...

Live..hmm...very little difference in many cables - balance sound, cost and construction.

Re: What leads are you lot using?

Mogami's here too...and I agree with Dave that the Neutrik silent jacks are a superb invention!!

When just practicing around the house though, I use Fender braided cables - they look beautiful.  I don't take them to gigs because the cloth braiding gets filthy really quickly.

Re: What leads are you lot using?

My two favorites I use is Pete Cornish Signature and Evidence Audio Forte.  I also use ocassionally a Mogami Platinum --silent switching is a great bonus.

Problem with some higher end cables (over $100.00 USD) is that they need to be trained or they can get unruly/tangled/twisted, etc.  One of my favorites was Evidence Audio Lyric, but damn thing would fight me all the time - couldn't train or I wasn't a good trainer..lol - Tony (owner) sent me his first Forte cable produced - heals much better...lol.

Re: What leads are you lot using?

I've started using bullet cables. Some of them are a bit twee, but great cable for the money. I've used planet waves in the past and they've all died. Klotz cable was too noisy for me. My longest serving cable was a piranha cable that I had when I started playing at 14, lasted till I about 23.

Re: What leads are you lot using?

George L everything for me.  It's nice to cut and custom wire everything to my exact specs...no wasted cable!  And for the people who say that solderless is unreliable I say hogwash, I've never had a single issue with any of the about 20-30 connections in my rig.  Can't say that about any other brands yet...

'67 and '74 Fender Twin Reverbs, '74 Marshall 1987 lead mkII, Metro Superlead 100. Pedals from TC Electronic, Ibanez, Dunlop, BK Butler, Electro-Harmonix, Fulltone, Maestro/Gibson, Loopmaster switching, VoodooLab, Boss. Gibson and Fender guitars, Dimarzio pickups.

I did know they still sell cables, just wasn't sure if it's the same ones.

Re: What leads are you lot using?

I'm a bit of a cable geek..  big_smile  and I've owned or used them all.

My fave are

Guitar to board = Solid Cable

Board to amp    = Van Den Hul ( from Lava cable )

I like the Pete Cornish cable but I find it frays too easily and sounds kinda dark... great for the Bonamassa tone though.

I'll recommend Mark from Lava, he's a real gent to deal with and his workmanship is superb.

Re: What leads are you lot using?

I use the crap that's lying around. Essentially the quality of those horrible, microphonic cables that come with guitars or are in the bins at the checkout @ GC.

All my George Ls fell apart but I am very hard on gear and dusty, dirty, stages where backlines become frontlines are no friend to solderless.

Re: What leads are you lot using?

Line 6 Wireless... Deezer turned me on to them... they are sweet.

I had some George L's and I cant get the plugs to work right... the original plugs from the late 90's.

Ask me about my handwound Great Lakes Guitar Pickups
Since 2010, Bonamassa fans have taken advantage of my JB friend discount = my cost + shipping. cool

Re: What leads are you lot using?

Pete Cornish Silver Series for all guitar and amp leads, Pete Cornish patch for all patch leads.

Not saying it's the best (although I believe it is) but when it's matched and blanaced for his pedals it's the logical choice for me.

I used to use Evidence, but it's bloody fragile.
