Topic: I gave my son a Gibson Les Paul!

Hi everyone!
My name is Sune Andersson and I am one of those who don´t have the talent to use a Gibson guitar the right way.
But I have a 14 year old son who´s got it! And you might think I´m stupid but I don´t care...

To make a long story short... already when he was 10 we found out he was gifted. I was almost broke so I had to find out how to get him a good guitar... I put together a really good Fender Strat out of parts I bought on the web... you can read more about this guitar here if you are curious about it!

Soon after this we found out about Joe Bonamassa and Anton, my son (and I) was hooked... and he started to dream about playing a Les Paul just like Joe...

It took me three years to fullfill his dream but now I have given him his first Gibson Les Paul Traditional 2010 Desert Burst... This guitar is love from father to son.

Here´s some pictures of his Les Paul!

BTW... I was given the pleasure to name his guitar (every guitar has got to have a name)
She was given the name... Camelia! Why? The only reason I could afford to buy her was that I quit smoking... Camel cigarrettes... and she was a Desert Burst (!!!)... almost looking like a Tobacco Sunburst....  roll

Re: I gave my son a Gibson Les Paul!

Hi Sune,

I really enjoyed your post.  Your son must be very proud of his dad.  I too bought my son a Les Paul, even got him a nice Fender amp as well, but sadly the guitar was a distant third to XBox and girls.  The good news is it will be mine when he goes off to college and I get the entertainment room back!

Re: I gave my son a Gibson Les Paul!

Dear Sune,

Thank you for posting this, it is a wonderful story!!!  I wish your son Anton all the best luck in pursuing his musical dreams.  And may Camelia always bring pride & joy over the sounds that she resonates!   smile

And talk about a positive way to redirect your expendable money!!  Just a fantastic story.

I never smoked tobacco, but I have a very good friend who is truly addicted.  She wants to quit, she has quit before, but stress usually brings her back to her cigarettes even after giving them up for over 3 years.  She has now been hypnotized for the second time and is doing well without tobacco, even though she misses it every day.  Her sister is battling breast cancer for the second time in 3 years, I think that was her incentive this time around.

Congratulations on giving up the Camels and best of luck.  This is a remarkable story!

Re: I gave my son a Gibson Les Paul!

Hi Sune,

I am so touched by this story that I had to tell it at least 10 times over the weekend!!  smile

My 3 college kids were home for Thanksgiving over the weekend and I was rummaging through a little jewelry box on my bureau looking for a pair of earrings to go with a necklace my daughter wanted to borrow and I came across a Joe Bonamassa Blues Deluxe pic with Fender's name on the back that I got in 2004.  First thing that popped into my head was, I should give this to Anton.  I figure using it on a Les Paul kinda' bridges the gap of moving from a Fender to a Les Paul.  wink

Anyway, ask your son if he wants it and I'll mail it to him.  Also, ask Anton if he wants to send any of his used guitar strings to the StringsforaCURE Foundation, I can send you a mailer, you just have to put Sweedish postage on it.  I'd be the first one to buy a piece from Anton's strings!
