Topic: NGD: Warning- Les Paul content...

So, I ummed and ahhhed about this for a week. Finally I gave in. It is sumptuous.

Our relationship is already barely legal.

It's a 1997 Historic R8.

Thanks guys.

It's truly an amazing top. If you like deep 3D flame rather than close grained straight flame, it's one of the best I have ever seen, certainly the best I've seen outside of a Suhr or PRS.

Just plugged in- very simple rig- Cornish G2, Echodrive and into a Plexi 45/50 and it sounded heavenly. Actually has a little more output than my JBLP which amazed me. Less bttm end and more middy. Butterey to play- very good set up on it too.

I now have more Gibsons than Fenders. I never thought that would be the day. But it is. And I blame Joe.

Drool- yes it's an issue....;-)

While I'm here, jakey...I'm aiming at a replacement amp-wise.

I'm not even looking at the 45/50, but the 18/20 OR Romany...head/combo...

Have you had experience with a Romany? Is the 45/50 a fairly 'end all' amp for you? I'm guessing it's pretty pedal friendly.  wink

Yeah. I didn't like the Romany as much - well I do but I think there's things better. Firstly, the Plexi. You would love it. It is very vintage Marshall, not over saturated but with sparkle and warble. Secondly, the Fender Blues Jnr- lovely amp. Found the Romany brittle. Also for a little more lazy J 20

I have a 01 R58 butterscotch but it pales in comparison. That has to be the nicest top I have ever seen on any LP. I"m still in awe.
