Topic: BK Butler Tube Driver Round 2

Last time this pedal was discussed, I think Joe said he had just ordered a new one.  I am curious! Joe, did you get it and will it make any appearances on your main pedalboard? If so, which amp do you prefer it with?  Have any other forum members seen a Tube Driver on Joe's board recently?

I was all over the last post about the BBTD and bought one myself. But alas - I sold it. It sounded cool but I just couldn't find my own sound with it. I got the violin tone out of it but I think that tone sounds better with someone like EJ, DG or JB playing it. I needed a new practice amp so I had to sell it to fund the purchase of my Blues jr. It was a also a big bugger so it was cumbersome to lug around, pug in, etc...I'm curious to see if Joe is indeed using it...

I know what you are saying Kevman.  I am a little up in the air about mine.  I am going to hang on to it for awhile because I just got a Marshall head and it does seem to work better with the Marshall than my old Fender heads.  It does have a certain sweetness that I haven't found in any other pedal, but it can get lost in the mix in a two guitar band.  It is definitely a "whopper" size pedal.

The pedal seems to need many hours to "wake up" when it's new. I found it harsh in the beginning and even changed to a 12AU7 tube. But I changed it back to 12AX7 and love the pedal. I mostly use it for Floyd stuff, and it's great. I think it's like a Muff, you have to play loooooaaaaad to get the sweet tone. But as always, even if other guitarist get good tones from pedals/amps, that doesn't automatically mean I like it when playing with my finger's that doesn't always do what I want them to.

Even semi-pro and amateur guitarists have their own tone, whatever gear used. Even I have ....

Before you sell it, try it before/after misc. pedals (both as a boost and as main distortion feeding an another pedal etc).
