Topic: Stone Machine

Here’s a quick nugget for you. Click this link http://redirect2.iodalliance.com/downlo … 5B48637465 to download the mp3 Dirty Sweet from the band Stone Machine. Imagine the band Free, fronted by Sammy Hagar from back in his Montrose days. Good, good stuff.

Their self-titled CD from which this track is taken is a pretty strong offering. Lots of influences; primarily Free as mentioned, with also a flavoring of Bad Co (but I guess that would only be natural). There’s also some strong Zep and Skynyrd influences on other tracks. Anyway, check ‘em out.

Save it to your desktop and add it to your iPod. You can thank me later   wink

Re: Stone Machine

Hi Stu,

Thanks for the shout!  Stone Machine has alot of upside.  They definitely have that Free/BC sound, but like you said there's also the other usual suspects of rockdom.  I think the band's from eastern kentucky (album was recorded in Ashland) which is fast becoming a fertile state for rock bands.

Re: Stone Machine

Thanks Stu.  I like that alot.

I think I'll be haveing this in my library very soon

Yeah better late than never, huh? Hard to believe I probably led the post count at one time on the old board, before Sweet Sista Jane (and many others. like yourself) left me in the dust.

Re: Stone Machine

I picked up about half the songs off their self-titled album yesterday and you can add Skynyrd and Molly Hatchet into the mix of influences.  "Cheatin' Woman" is more than a fair cover of good southern rock.

Re: Stone Machine

Yeah, Dirty Sweet is a real rocker.

I see what you mean with some of those other band references, funny thing was I kept hearing it (in my head) a bit higher with Bon Scott singing it, so I could see it sitting well with early AC/DC too.

What really adds to the weight of it is the guitar phrasing. Chunky chords just left hanging there for effect, but I must admit the solo in sound and effect is all Free. Nice track and thanks for the heads up.

You can get it off iTunes.  The album's a bit derivative, but you can't help but love the band's energy.  The lead singer is very good and like someone said the twin guitar playing is crunchy.

I think you can also get it from their record company's website 9lives records.

BTW - this sounds like it shouldn't be too difficult to play, even for a neophite like myself.  Can someone with some modicum of guitar talent and a trained ear please tab this and post it.
