I didn't have tone like that...ugh...quintessential pure tone...
Joe was killer at twenty, but this seems like a man who has lived three lifetimes on guitar. Madness.

yep
I have seen that full concert on DVD and Kossoff is fantastic, he done for the Les paul
what Hendrix did for the stratocaster IMO when I think of a les paul sound I think first Kossoff then Bonnamassa . too bad KOSSOFF AND HENDRIX were not here for the long haul, SRV too, why does tragedy seem to rob us of our greatest.
Guys,
what is the DVD and where can I get it. This are absolutely killer clips which I have never bothered before to seek out. But as an über fan I really should. I would love this DVD. Kossoff is MEGA here.
Please share this info!!!
I think it was FREE FOREVER not 100% need to look it out from somewhere
it may have been also inside free a documentry but be warned it was only 4or 5 songs that were recorded
there was also an isle of wight concert that was awesome
It is the Free: Forever dvd.
or
You can get the two disc set that has the Isle of Wight performances too.
Both versions have this Granada tv set though - five songs.
Listen to that solo tone come in at 2.20...goddamn...that is one of the best examples of that woodiness of a LP coming through...you can feel it all working together - simple...limit the things that get in the way...the tone of the fingers, guitar and amp will shine through.

Thanks for the tips on the DVD. Definately worth getting for me so much great stuff to take in.
I mean, I've always admired Simon Kirke's drumming and he was my inspiration to get a kit. Minimal set up, I mean look at it! But what a clatter.
So thanks Dave for the intial link it has been a breathtaking watch.
BTW did you also look at the RARE Japanese tour version of 'Heartbreaker'. Koss had dropped out by then - incapable - and Paul Rodgers took on the duties at the last minute. The vid is terrible quality admittedly, but he does a good job. No Koss of course, but be fair, he is still belting it out - with that voice at the same time.
He is a good player as I saw for myself later with Bad Co. sharing duties with Mick Ralphs, but I had always wanted to see that Japanese footage, but as we know, what he does best is with the mic.
