Suhl, help a brother out, will ya. Ive been on You Tube trying to find these cats. If you got it, drop it quick. Just pulled a 12 hour day with the mail bag, the dogs wining for a walk and the wife is winking at me. I only got so much gas in the tank.

I'll check in later, make that tomorrow, gotta take care off some things. ( if ya catch my drift )

Oh stop that, it wasnt that bad what I said!

Re: the hoax

LOVE THE HOAX. I heard about them over 5 years ago. Got the Live cd first, then had to grab everything I could find that's Hoax related. There's 2 more board members that I know of that are HOAX fans.  David I (the original Hoaxmiester) in Cali and our good friend Garth <G>  Since then I have accumalated over 20 live shows and several videos.  And since I love to share, They're available for the asking.

Take care everyone. And if I don't meet you no more in this world
Then ill, I'll meet you in the next one and don't be late, don't be late

Re: the hoax

here you go shredit, this is the only hoax video on youtube im aware of(it actually isnt the band, but it is most band members jamming a song written by the band).
http://youtube.com/watch?v=sp3Lp5UGKmk

then here they are on myspace

myspace.com/thehoaxband

myspace.com/jessedavey

really fantastic stuff i am going to be purchasing their other material in the near future, a shame they are broken up.  one of the reviews i read compares it to a jam band with srv on lead guitars, which is a pretty good description, but they are definitely no ripoff.  i love it

and please i dont even know much about getting live shows, i have one live joe shows thats about it, but anything you are willing to share id love to have

Hi Suhl, first off I gotta tell you, I'm going to ramble on this one. For all you who read every recent post like I do, your going to get me divorced (lol). You cant keep bating me with all your schitt. I tell the wife I'll be 5 minutes, and it ends up an hour. I don't even know you, but then again I know you better than you know yourselves, you get me! I start reading and it's like I'm saying " yeah yeah I hear you big time on that". Told you I'm rambling, you still reading my crap? I'll take that as a yes. I'm late for " American Idol" but it's all good, just let me finish me paragraph. I think from now there be no commas, periods , nothing, just let yall figure it out. Ok let me get to " The Hoax", are you kiddin me! Those guys frickin rock. I'm real tired of hearing people ripping on musicians, saying things like " another Stevie wanna be ", F...you. I watched all the stuff you threw down, you tube , my space. Loved what I heard, if you e-mail me we can talk, I'll  drop my cell on there too. Sorry I posted it wrong last night , burned out big time working and commuting! Got to see if Jeff e-mailed me, that will have to wait for tommorow, just got another wink!

Re: the hoax

hey shredit, glad to hear you like them.  and trust me you havent scratched the surface yet with the stuff you can hear online, Live Forever is so much better.  really one of the best cds i have heard in my life, such a shame to hear about a band so great after they are no more.  and i have to say i totally agree with you i am so sick of just ripping on great musicians just for the sake of doing it.  i have no problem if you want to not like them, but respect them.  i have seen people do it with joe too.  one time i tried introducing someone to joe and for some reason he thought it was like a challenge.  im like listen to this, this guy is the best guitarist i have heard in a long, long time one of the best ever and i am not exaggerating.  then it was like so and so is better.  it seems like when you get to talking about musicians with really serious chops or bands that can just flow unbelievably well people want to say, yeah, well they arent the greatest band of all time so they must not be worth hearing.  #### all that nitpicking whats good is good and the hoax are great.

i noticed that hidden track the other day, i was playing it in my car and just let it play.  it is the encore.  a good song, but the worst of the cd, all the others are great songs, it is just good.

my email is kpeters@ilstu.edu ill try sending you an email tomorrow morning for some reason it isnt working at the moment.

Re: the hoax

The Hoax were the BEST Blues Band to come out of the UK. If you like the Live CD, their studio CD Humdinger is a MUST. It is almost a perfect CD start to finish. HIghlights are Groove Breaker, Feeding Time, Bones and their  covers of " I Want to be Loved " & "Superstition".  However the band shines brightest live. Jon Amor & Jesse Davey are excellent guitarists. Hugh Coltman is an amazing vocalist and harp player. Robin Davey is a top notch bass player and not bad on guitar as well.  Their live recording are some of the best I have ever heard. What a tight band.

The Davey Brothers release a double CD Monkey No. 9 a few years ago. Unfortunately Robin does most of the vocals and he is not a very good vocally. The CD is OK but does not come close to any Hoax recording.

Jon Amor has released several great CDs since the band broke up. His vocals are quite good and the guitar playing is excellent. He has moved forward and found his own sound which is very different from the Hoax.
He has several songs for download on his website.  Jon was always my favorite of the two guitar players.
His solos live as always different.

Re: the hoax

Hi Guys im a big hoax fan too, saw them three times once supporting walter trout, they were a great band, Dont know if its been mentioned or not they also brought out a live vidio, which I have not sure if its available on DVD, both the drummers who played with the hoax (1st and 2nd) line up went on to play for a scottish band called the Nimo brothers (not at the same time!!) they are worth checking out as well, they too are in the Hoax sort of style, seen them a couple of times, great band live, Jess davey also produced Scott mckeons new album who, supported, Our Man! Joe bonamassa at shepperds bush just a few weeks ago.

Let there be drums......and there was drums

Hey Suhl, just got a copy of Live Forever from Amazon today. This stuff is finger lickin' good !!! Extremely influenced by SRV, but the harp playing adds an extra kick. Too damn bad they're not together still.

                                                                                                 Thanks for the tip,

David thank you!

Hope the e-mail went through.

I may not want to post this, but here goes. Caught only part of the dvd, the one where Buddy Guy is jamming with them, this band rocks HARD!. Going out the door to the airport, gonna drop in one of the cd's. Licking my chops! I will have to down play it on the forum, or your going to have everybody contacting you for their stuff. Better e-mail you from now on! Love the look they had from young Stevie on guitars to clean and sober on the bass. They certainly idolized the man, hell, why not?
