Topic: What's Your Main Amp's Tone Settings?

I always turned my Mid's off (zero or 6pm) and then went through a brief faze of having them between 12-2pm and now I'm  back to zero/off/6pm.  With that being said, what's your main amp's clean tone settings?  Here's mine:

Treble:  1-2pm
Mids:     Off
Bass:    4-5pm

TERMS:  I realize some of our amps have Deep, Bright switches and or Presence, etc, but let's keep those settings out of equation for simplicity (eliminate bringing up tone settings on guitar...lol), just your stock clean tone amp settings (some might have for lead channel- add if you want).  Love to see everyone's settings to their foundation of tone.

Cheers!

Re: What's Your Main Amp's Tone Settings?

Marshall 1974x. Tone in centre (around 5) volume at 6
Fender champ everything dimed (use guitar to change tone)
Blues deluxe. 12 mid. 9 treb. 3 bass. 0 presence. Reverb 6. volume dimed but using input 2 (-6db)

Apart from blues deluxe everything is plug and play no twiddling blues deluxe is a pain every venue needs a tweak.

Re: What's Your Main Amp's Tone Settings?

When I was 13 and just started playing guitar, I never used much mid.  As did anybody who liked heavy metal.  Metal days behind me now, so it depends on the amp, but the mid knob is past half way and I keep the treb and bass off or use sparingly.  I always used an amp for IT"S tone though, never used a distortion box for any reason.  Never really understood the point of them.  -Seth

Marshall DSL 401 Combo

OD1, NOT OD2!

Gain - Full (not a very gainy amp - the settings seem to clean it up a little..., plus the guitar volume is a little rolled off AND, I use no other pedals/fx loop stuff, so its just guitar and amp)
Treble - 3 o clock
Mid - FULL!
Bass - 10/11 o clock

Pre-amp Vol. - (However loud it can go in the venue. With a baffle).
Power-amp Vol. - Full

Cornell plexi 7, tone 1, edge 3-5. Simples.

Re: What's Your Main Amp's Tone Settings?

For a while there I ran everything full power eq wise and volume as loud as the room would let me.  I did this on a number of amps: Fender Custom Vibroluxe Reverb, Hot Rod Deluxe, Deluxe 90, Blues Jr., Marshall JCM 800 50 watt head, Laney LC112, Peavey Windsor, Epiphone Valve Jr (ha fooled you it only had a volume that was always maxed out!) and my current amp is a 1970's VT classic 100 series Peavey it too is max settings.

The only time I played with anything was with the Hot Rod Deluxe I turned the Bass to 5, Mids 8, Treble 4.  That was pretty Fat.  Thats big for me because I come from the Clapton school of Amplifier Theory which is everything including volume wide open no distortion pedals.  Now I use distortion pedals because I wake the kids up and use cheap amps.

Have you seen or tried the FX Loop trick on your DSL 401?

Re: What's Your Main Amp's Tone Settings?

I think a lot depends on what sort of amp you use...

I have a Boogie MkIIB and I run the treble up around 8 or 9, and the Mid and Bass down about 1, otherwise it is mud city...

With an Analogman Compressor acting as a boost pedal, I can almost get 'Joe' tones out of it...well, at least the sound of Joe breaking a fingernail on a rusty string anyway...

Re: What's Your Main Amp's Tone Settings?

For my dual terror, tone 12-1 o clock gain at 1-2 o clock volume to taste. I adjust the rest from the guitar. The amp really responds to the guitar.

When I had my blues deluxe, I maxed the bass and mids, dumped the treble and ran the presence at 4. Using a fuzz or dirt pedal to get anything gainy.

Working on setting written as per a clock face I have the Express clone set as:

Middle              : 2:30
