Same way they did the Mike Bloomfields guitar last year. Make it look like a known photograph and take everyones money.

Personally I get bored by all these models, but honestly guys. Gibson is a company. Companies make money the best ways they can think of. What else is new.

To me the question is why make all these other Les Pauls? I understand Number 1 and maybe number 2 from mr. Page. I understand Pearly Gates. I can't believe they haven't made this Beano guitar sooner. But how many more 59/60 les pauls does the market need? They already have more models now then then they made back in the 50's. I wish they would limit our options to a few makes and models from Gibson USA, then if you want something exotic or custom have The custom shop do made to order instruments. Just my opinion but sometimes less is more and I think less choices would let Gibson focus more on Quality rather then dealing with multiple different variations.

My thoughts on Gibson...
If you look across the board they are making some really great classic guitars. They are making great Les Pauls... you can get 50's copies to more modern Standards. You can get some great hollowbodies and semi hollowbodies. Any variation of SG's. Some great other models like Firebirds and explorers.
A very small part of the company is the Dark Tiger, Robot, and signature series that cost more than I make in 6 months. Those guitars are a very small part of the company. When you consider they make more Les Paul Traditionals than all the signature models combined its hard to fault a company for making some interesting pieces that collectors want.
At the end of the day I dont care about any of those guitars. I really love my R8 and really want a ES-330. I Love Gibson. When they start making more stupid guitars (Firebird X) than cool guitars... Then I'll start complaining.
I think its cool that Gibson wants to re create famous guitars. If they cost 500,000 dollars thats because there is going to be 10 of them and 10 million people wanting one. If they made 10 Million of them they'd make the price 100 bucks and no one would want one and no other guitar would be made because the resources would be busy making a cheap Beano guitar.
And we'd all complain about that.
