Topic: Breda, Nov. 6 2010 (Julia!)

Just a few shots I uploaded as soon as we got home from down south -

http://www.flickr.com/photos/41803612@N … otostream/

This was a highlight double-header for most of us, the show and meeting Julia at last after the build-up of excitement we had about getting her to her first show.  big_smile

I can tell you that she is as delightful a young lady as she looks in these pics!

The venue was large, lovely, and sold out, with plush, deep chairs that lead to people being less enthusiastic than when they stand. I had more fun the night before. I know that Cathy disagrees, but there you are....  wink

More from others, no doubt, and more from me with more pics at some point when we have a bit of time.

So glad that everything worked out so well with Julia.  Looking forward to seeing more pictures.

And the video - most excellent.  I am so looking forward to seeing Joe Wednesday - please tell him to not be too jet-lagged and to make sure he leaves Slow Train in the set.

Have fun at Carre.

Sorry but I would never buy these tickets, because if you do you support their way of making money.

We have row 2 and 3 in Carre , bset places for 45 Euro, they sell them 4 times the price!!

yes, my dad said that immidiatly when he saw the prices!
so i can't go unfortunately
I'll have to wait till the next time he comes to the netherlands

Re: Breda, Nov. 6 2010 (Julia!)

Fear not Rocket, Julia has one girlfriend who shares her love of Joe. But, when the rest of her friends catch on, she'll be miles ahead.  wink  What a sweet girl wearing her Rick B shirt. Joe and Co. made certain she had a magical night. Of course! And, she was well chaperoned by Suzanne.
As for the show, see G's pics for a copy of the set list. Big props for the current songs. There is a great flow to the shows and plenty of those, much desired, Joe solos. I understand the draw of multiple shows. This was different from Friday's show. Joe's voice seemed stronger and the sound level was more "comfortable" for me, i.e. no ear plugs.
I should mention the new stage set-up. Bogie is to the audience's right, behind Carmine. Rick still to the left. There is now a riser with the Theramin and a mic, so Joe climbs to his own Magic Mountain, eliciting waves of sound with his arms. Very impressive, especially with the grand light show and backing.  It's hard to chose favorites. I'm still crazy for "Slow Train", but still trying to figure out what Joe wants us to yell in response in the beginning. (Next question if I see him). The intro to "Sloe Gin" continues to amaze me. "The Great Flood" still churns my emotions, "Mountain Time" remains a crowd pleaser, and, of course, "Woke up Dreaming" insures all in attendance are now converts. "Young Man Blues", Riff winning "BOJH", remind folks of Joe's range. Bogie, Rick and Carmine each had their moments to "wow" as well.
I was hoping Joe would have Sandi sing "Bird on a Wire" with him, but no luck. Maybe tonight..wink wink nod nod.. But no reason to whine.
Again, a huge round of applause to all involved. I know they are all road weary and ready to hit the States. So, lets send them home with an extra special, final Euro-show, tonight, at the Carre. For me it will be bittersweet. Last Joe show until who knows when and my only time to visit with Bonabuddies before I head home. I DO count my blessings!!  Cathy

Re: Breda, Nov. 6 2010 (Julia!)

Well you must be tired Cathy, as logic would have it YOU & ME aka a big bunch of gentle galoots are now Julia's friends who listen to Joe Bonamassa, yes?!  hmm  Of course we are.  Her one same age girlfriend may now get rescued by well-meaning Martians when she turns green with envy!
Saw George's pictures and everyone's looking pulchritudinous with faces bearing a palpable happiness in the time space continuum of the present life moment!
Perhaps the think [sic] to yell in response to the start up of the Slow Train number is to yell the Joe!...Joe!...Joe! Joe!! Joe!!! steamrolling chant?!  neutral
Thanks for the report, it's helping building up steam slowly (and not so slowly in some cases) over here.
More! More! More!

Re: Breda, Nov. 6 2010 (Julia!)

Yesterday was absolutely amazing!
At first I took the train to Breda at 13:00 and arrived there around 14:30.
On the station I met Suzanne and we went to the chasse theatre, when we walked in we heard Joe’s guitar in the hallway and followed the sound.
There we heard about 2 songs in the soundchek. After that we met Joe! big_smile He was very kind, totally not arrogant or anything! There Suzanne took a picture of me with Joe.
Warren and Rick we met too, all really nice people! After talking Suzanne and I walked a bit trough the city and drink something.
Later we were in the brasserie and I’ve met many people from the forum, also all really nice people of course smile
After eating Joe and Sandi Thom came to greet the group. There I’ve met Sandi too and talked with her. Warren also came to the brasserie.
.. Then the concert started! I could see the whole stage from my seat, on carmines side.  Joe is live reeeaally good! It was amazing to see him live, can’t say much more about that... It just sounded great.
At the end of the concert Rick gave me the set list. I wanted it signed and Warren let me go backstage with 2 other girls and there mum, Suzanne and Hananja also came backstage.
There I had the change to meet Joe again! I also talked with Carmine and Rick backstage... They all signed my set list.
In the end we had to go and said goodbye to everybody.

I had a great time! Thank you all sooo much! big_smile
Next year I’ll be there again... with my tickets bought in time! tongue
and there coming more pictures!

Oh and rocket, now I know a lot of people who also listen to Joe!
and not too long ago I convinced Yvette(a friend) how good Joe is, and now she also listens to his music.. not as much as I, but its coming tongue

Re: Breda, Nov. 6 2010 (Julia!)

Good to see Joe again, about a year after the Carre show.
Still easily the most skilled guitar player I've ever seen, I need to practice some more I guess.
No pictures/video's this time though, a balcony seat and my old cam made sure the pictures were pretty horrible.
I didn't meet any of you this time, but I did spot Marianne and Annelies in the main seating area on the ground floor.
See you next time!

Re: Breda, Nov. 6 2010 (Julia!)

What a wonderful time that must have been. Thanks for the great reports all of you.  The video of Slow Train with Cathy's backup vocals was great George.  tongue Julia, you look great in that tee, The report more than repaid all our needs. I was the enabler but it is from all of us here on the forum in spirit. I knew the Forum crowd would make sure you had a concert experience to tell forever. Be sure and thank your parents for being so trusting. You could not have had a better escort than Suzanne! It will be hard to top that one. ROCK ON!  big_smile  big_smile  big_smile

Re: Breda, Nov. 6 2010 (Julia!)

Bona-Who? or Bona-Magic???
I would say Breda was Bona-Magic.
The magic started with the forum get-together at the nice brasserie at the Chasse theater.
At the long table there were about 18 people talking, talking, talking and having a great time.  lol
Incredible that some of us met the first time.
It was really nice meeting all of you and I'm looking forward to the next get-together.
Cathy, thank you for the huge Bona-Who badge, it was fun wearing it.
I couldn't count the people smiling when they saw the Bona-Who? print.

Atmosphere of the Brasserie somehow got electric when Joe and Sandi came by to say hello.
Time for pictures and talking with our guitar hero.
Time flew by and one has to be careful not to forget time and space and to take seats in time.
Bibi, can't thank you enough for getting our tickets 3rd row in the middle of the stage and of course for giving me bed & breakfast & a care package for my journey home.

The new setlist was great - wonderful ballads and great rocking stuff lol and a light show.
I really enjoyed to see Joe's and Carmine's interaction when they played "Young man blues".
And of course Joe and Boogie when they fired the "Slow train" together with the audience. Hey! Hey! Hey!
And then "Woke up dreaming" where Joe stood just in front of us, when he played that song with every emotion and devotion one can give. WOW. WOW. WOW.
I'm not the type of concert goer that wants a seat but I really enjoyed some moments. As Bibi already told, when Joe played the "Young Man Blues" our row of seats went forth and back and I felt somehow caged, cause my feet and body wanted to move.

Breda was a real blast.  lol  lol  lol
To be continued tomorrow with Amsterdam.

Re: Breda, Nov. 6 2010 (Julia!)

Last song: Just got paid.
You can get an impression of the athmosphere in Breda.
The audience couldn't sit any longer after the first song of the encore: Bird on a wire and enjoyed this song standing:

And of course Joe & Band got standing ovation.
