Topic: Pedal clones...?

Anyone own 'boutique' or 'no-name' pedals built almost or exactly like clones of famous or legendary pedals?

What is the truth...can they get so close that people are having difficulty telling the difference?

Currently looking through ebay and there are a fair few...at a third or half the price. I'm just not so sure than some of these big pedals have 'the thing'...people don't want to think the small guys can copy a design exactly (okay I can tell the difference if the resistors and other parts are clearly cheaper..but..)

Ideas?

Re: Pedal clones...?

Hi,

I have three MJM pedals, and they are well worth checking out. The Dallas Boost is great in front of a Marshall (sounded great even on the Class 5 which I had a few weeks, but due to failure, I returned it after a few attempts of repairs).

The Foxy Fuzz is an excellent clone of vintage big muff, and a little bit less noisy. I have 4 muffs, and they all sounds very different....

Go with the blues!

I have an an exact (same chip) clone of the original Aqua Puss made by www.jhspedals.com
Josh can make anything , an any combination, color that you want. He won't copy current pedals, obviously. He also makes some killer original pedals.

Re: Pedal clones...?

Wow, JHS look good...

Just bought a Power Screamer from Homebrew Electronics...will see how it is today.

Re: Pedal clones...?

DIY pedal clones... and they're great. Got rid of a real Gov'nor pedal in favor of the clone from here.

Here is another one I found but unfamiliar with:

This is much easier that "hot rodding" because they're fresh and have nothing to unsolder  lol

Ask me about my handwound Great Lakes Guitar Pickups
Since 2010, Bonamassa fans have taken advantage of my JB friend discount = my cost + shipping. cool

i've brought quite a few pedals from him. great for custom builds and quite wallet friendly. posts over at shortscale, where i hang out sometimes.

Fender 60's Strat>Fulltone OCD V4>>TC Electronics Polytune>Orange Dual Terror>Torres 2x10 Cab(with a vintage 30 and a greenback)

Re: Pedal clones...?

Well, I've just had a blast of the HBE Power Screamer...hmm..

I wish I had this pedal a few years ago.
This makes the FulldriveII, modded TSs etc sound pretty lame in comparison - this seems to blend with my amps far better (which is what you want)...it's superbly versatile and all the settings sound good...some great. Phenomenally impressed from the off...

Re: Pedal clones...?

Fulltone deja vibe is great! This is my 3rd univibe type pedal, went from dunlop to voodoo lab then fulltone. The fulltone is a keeper!

I really really should sell my computer.... It seems impossible to read a post with a link to pedalmakers without buying something! SOMEBODY STOP ME!! LOL  lol A couple of pedals (including the morning glory overdrive) is on the way to Oslo - Norway. Really nice pedal and if it sounds half as good as the reviews, it's a keeper.

Thanks for the tip.

Keep rocking!

Re: Pedal clones...?

I've started a thread that'll be the end of my bank account.

...but I know exactly what I want my pedal board to be.
