Topic: It's been a year to remember

It's been a year today since my first foray into an internet forum. I had known of Joe for about a year after hearing him play as a support act and just had to find out more about him. Who would have guessed where this adventure would take me and my wife Helen.  Seven shows, two epic road trips, including maybe the longest by a fan here, and the chance to have face time with a few of you and lots of chats and repartee here on this forum since my first post. We even got to say hi to Joe twice in this year. A wealth of riches in any music fan's book. The greatest reward though, has been my association with this forum and the exceptional group of righteous folk gathered here. Joe's incredible talent and drive have garnered a core group of fans unequaled anywhere. We have friends all over the world now. Sometimes this place is pure magic of the best kind. I've witnessed acts of random kindness and love of man that have inspired me to do the same, and I have.
I'm overjoyed to be a member of this band of kindred souls. It's been said before and I'll echo the sentiment. This is the finest Forum on the internet, populated by marvelous people.
Thank you all, and thank you Joe! You are the best.  smile

Congratulations on your 1 year anniversary!!

I have quite aways to go before I get there, but agree that as I get to know those here I find everyone to be helpful and nice and I am happy to be part of it.

Rick,
I don't think it could be put any better. You have summed up what most of us feel in a single, concise paragraph.
Congrats on your one year anniversary! I always enjoy your posts and look forward to meeting one day soon...maybe Vegas in February?? I should have enough airline miles by then.

Re: It's been a year to remember

You can say it again Rick, we'll always have San Francisco, LOL! Just a year, wow seems so much longer. It was a blast meeting you and Helen and your SD friends for dinner and a JB show last March. Time to head out for game 3. VIVA GIGANTES, and thanks for pullin' for the wild west.

Re: It's been a year to remember

Jeez, only a year?

To echo Bill S, you indeed summed up perfectly what many of us feel about this place, and about the people we have been fortunate enough to meet in real life as a result of contact in this forum!

I seem to recall telling you some time ago (though I can't remember the exact context) that you were a very welcome addition to our ranks, that you were, quite simply, one of 'us'.

I look forward enormously to our first meeting!  wink

Well, my post rate must have made it seem like aeon's.
I remember that comment of yours and was extremely humbled at the time. I still am.
Thanks George, and thanks to all.

And here is #3k, a gratuitous post just to make it a nice round number and finish off the year with a bang. That'll set a benchmark for the newbies to shoot for.   lol

Re: It's been a year to remember

Happy one year anniversary !!!

A lot of folks have pin pointed as previously posted, indeed. big_smile

I can only hope to embrace such good times and moments and friendships as others have here on the forum.
Heck of a concept, isn’t it?  ……The universal language bringing people together.  And Joe's music being the common ground?
Amazing.

I’m newer here.  I am always enlightened and educated by what I read from this forum.  I feel lucky to belong.
I hope it never changes.

Re: It's been a year to remember

Gee Rick,

It's only been a year? It feels to me like you've been here since the beginning. I guess that's a true testament as to how well you've fit into this forum. wink

I'm not sure I qualify as one of the "righteous folk ", but I sure have enjoyed reading your words and sharing our senses of humor both here and on Facebook. Your words ring very true about this place, we're all like some sort of extended family who most of the time get along, but don't always see eye to eye. However music, and specifically Joe, is really the head of this family when we all sit down for a hearty meal of Blues/Rock music. cool

I'm glad your here Buddy! smile

Re: It's been a year to remember

very well said RickB and congrats on one year with 3K posts, a record that will probably not fall anytime soon. You are so right,  really great people here and all thanks to Joe and his work ethic. It's easy to appreciate the music, it's stellar, but I forget sometimes just how hard he works to keep us happy. Here's to the next 3,000 bro!

Re: It's been a year to remember

RickB, I too must echo, "It's only been a year?"

We have only been a presence in this forum since April, although we've been Joe fans for years.  I'm absolutely flabbergasted that you could make 3,000 posts in just one year; I'll be lucky to make it to 100 by our anniversary!

Nevertheless, keep on posting... always enjoyable reading! smile

Re: It's been a year to remember

3K in a year?  Heck I joined a few days after you and I'm not even to 300 yet.

Oh well, I never was much of a talker anyway.

Rick - I've enjoyed reading your posts, but I really enjoyed meeting you, Helen and the family in Bakersfield earlier this year.  Great folks, I must say.  It's fun to find kindred spirits in this world and through this venue, you've made life just a little bit more tolerable for alot of us.

Rock on, see you in February

big congrats and glad to have you here from me.
a few times or more i was gonna give you heck for overposting or off topic posting but each time you had done or said something otherwise that was too cool to give you a hard time for but just know there were others who came before that took the hit for you to be able to post so plentifully so to speak, meaning some had suffered (at my keyboard and my misunderstanding/overassuming a time or two - and I sincerely apologize to anyone fitting that category from my definition or their own) much backlash. had it been an earlier time you may have had to fight off a tiger with a toothpick for the privilege but i think you pretty much have shown you could have succeeded. you are a sick man, sick in love with Joe's music

rock on!  big_smile

To those who took the hit before me for topical sins and posts in error, My Eternal Thanks! Not having to fend off the WRATH OF JANE allowed my furious post rate to continue unabated. My Joelove knows no bounds and will continue to wax as time goes by. I bow to the East Your Majesty! wink
Thanks Jane.
