Topic: The Eagles

Just got home from  3 and a half hour concert!  Unbelievable show, unbelievable light show, I'm talking non-stop fun, fun, fun.  Let's see:  Hotel California
                                                                Seven Bridges
                                                                Witchy Woman
                                                                Life In the Fast Lane
                                                                Lyin' Eyes
                                                                Desparado
                                                                Take It Easy
                                                                Funk 49
                                                                Rocky Mountain Way
                                                                Life's Been Good To Me
                                                                Dirty Laundry
                                                                I Can't Tell You Why
                                                                In the City
                                                                Love Will Keep Us Alive
                                                                One of These Nights
                                                                Peaceful Easy Feeling
                                                                Take It To The Limit
                                                                Heartache Tonight
                                                                and more.....
Incredibly talented musicians and singers and that Joe Walsh steals the show everytime.........
My advice, just do it!  Sold out arena, on our feet dancing and singing the entire show, people having the time of their life............fun, fun, and more fun!                      p.l.j.

Re: The Eagles

there was a Fender Strat appreciation concert from 2004 shown on Sky Arts TV Channel at the weekend here and Joe Walsh was on before David Gilmore, - I love watching JW, - he looks to be having such fun playing that you cannot help but take part in his enjoyment.

Saw them on their farewell Tour at Wembley Stadium about 12 years ago...Big stadium and was a long way back but you could just tell that Joe was enjoining it whilst the others were just there was the cash...

Re: The Eagles

Love them

Don Henley's vocal outro on the Last Resort is one of my fave vocl performances ever.

Only issue is with Take It to the Limit- they have to play it 2 keys lower so Glenn Frey can sing it, which ruins it.

I have to agree with you on that last part jakey, although I wouldn't call it totally ruined, but still pathetically lackluster compared to Randy Meisner.  Ironically, Glenn Frey had beat up Randy before a concert once to get to sing it himself...so now he beats the song down too to celebrate his "victory?

Re: The Eagles

Old thread, but seemed an appropriate place to post.

RIP Glenn Frey.  The Eagles were a large part of the soundtrack of my youth.  Glenn's is one of the sadder of many recent music industry deaths, for me at least.

Re: The Eagles

Totally agree with you. Really sad to see the news  this morning. This , Bowie and add Dale Griffin (Mott the Hoople) all in my decade focusses you on life. Can see lots of Eagles music in the next few days. As an aside I never knew he also wrote 'The heat is on@ from Beverley Hills Cop. sad

Come on the Blades (sorry Idolbone just had to borrow your line)

Re: The Eagles

not sure if Glen Fry and Don Felder made up before his death, shame if they did n’t. Amazing group of musicians on stage, Fry was clearly very driven, very focussed.

Hotel California was an album that I discovered sitting on a beach in Spain, happy memories.

Re: The Eagles

Old Grey Whistle Test, right at the beginning, whispering Bob doing the intros as ever and the Eagles in the studio. 'Witchy Woman'. They nailed it from the off. Looked great and sounded great.

'ON the Border' my favourite album. Loved the band, the sound and the songs. Glenn was a mainstay of the band, writing and singing and in the great scheme of things a team player too. He could play, but stood to the side to let the greater talents do their thing. With the Eagles the sum of the parts was always more important. I hope they do play some of their music. Would be nice if some more of their obscure songs got a play.
