Topic: Any Eric Johnson fans?

I found this on another forum that shows his settings and setup.  Nice photos.  Proves that a plank of wood and a few crappy connections are magic in the right hands, eh, Joe!  I can only dream of that day.

Re: Any Eric Johnson fans?

Thanks for posting this!  It's weird, I've never been able to get the EJ tone with both volumes on "10", not to mention I get very nervous with any tube amp run that way.  I use the same EQ but add a little more gain with the tube driver to compensate for the slightly lower volumes.  I learned a few neat things that I'm going to try and see how I like it.  Great post!

Re: Any Eric Johnson fans?

Interesting stuff and I see he uses 50w marshalls or is this an exception ?

those 50w can sound very sweet especially flat out  big_smile

"Everybody's entitled to my opinion. wink

Re: Any Eric Johnson fans?

I'm wondering if the settings on the Tube Driver are actually retarding the gain a little?

The 50 watters typically produce a tad more gain-

I'm on the road but will try this with our 1959 head when I get back to Cali-  I always thought the 100watters were run around 8-9.

He's only recently started using the bigger 100w Marshalls and Twin Reverbs lately.  EJ suffered from some pretty serious tenidous from the mid '90s to early '00s, since he has stated it's gotten better.  He also uses them for smaller venues.  Either way, EPIC TONE!
