Topic: red plugs on Joe's guitar cable

I was just wondering what kind of guitar cables joe is using now, and/or if the jack plug on it is one of those plugs that cuts the signal when you unplug it. Whenever I see it it's colored red... i'm not sure if it's an aftermarket plug.

I remember back in the day Joe used to use Planet Waves guitar cables with the 'cut off switch' on them and they wouldn't last.

Joe uses these now for a few years.

Re: red plugs on Joe's guitar cable

I have Mogamis with the Neutrik silent jacks...would never go back to normal cables...

Perfect for changing LPs mid-gig with a Plexi on 10...dead silent. Easily worth the money.

Re: red plugs on Joe's guitar cable

My Whirlwinds do fine for my one guitar I play at gigs.

Nice!

now instead of spending bucko bucks for Mogami brand, I found the connector for $7 now that I found out they're called Neutrik silent connectors... I can use them on my already existing cables.

I REALLY wonder how Elixir cables compare to Mogami?
Elixir really touts they have the very best quality guitar cables

I found a YouTube vid where the compare Monster cable and Elixir... not sure if they compare Mogami and George L's.

Re: red plugs on Joe's guitar cable

I always played so loud when I started that my ears rang for hours later... that being said the wirlwinds sound great to my ears for the money as well.  tongue

Re: red plugs on Joe's guitar cable

I noticed when I got my Mogami set (guitar and speaker), that I had to roll back the treble and bass from what I was used to...it brings everything forward.

You have lots to chose from... G.L's/Mogami's/Elixir's/Planet W's/Death Valley....and so much more...

Certain brands get knocked down etc...check out a few...there are big differences...even on standard amps.

Here is a great place for the cables with the Neutrik Silent Plug.

Re: red plugs on Joe's guitar cable

Yea.  The red ends are the silent Neutrik ends.  And I agree, you never go back.  I've had Steve from Accusound Cable Company put them on all of my intrument cables.

If you're looking for the (IMO) best cable available...and I've tried them all...trust me...The Accusound Silver Studio Pro is the best available.  Steve will custom make what ever you want or they come in all std lengths and they sound amazing.  Very detailed and articulate.  Perfect for touch sensitive and dynamic type amps. Great customer service and a good price.

Re: red plugs on Joe's guitar cable

The guitar cable....always a good debate, over what is good, great or just overpriced or overhyped...

End of the day, Mogami Platinum is the best cable I've found readily available in a big box store like GC, but I like Tony's Evidence Audio Forte and Peter Cornish Signature cables a little better....cost is about the same on all three.  Cables are important, hose to your tone.

+1 on the Lava Cable

You know Nic, it states that it's, "durable and long-lasting Lifetime beyond 10'000 mating cycles." Now the way I figure it....

There's 365 days in a year X 2 mating cyles per day X 36 years (figuring my age now and subtracting age 21) which equals = 26,280 mating cycles thus far. Do you really think this will last the rest of my life? wink  tongue

Speaking of cables....

What do you guys think are the best guitar cables without spending a small fortune on them?

2009 Gibson Les Paul 1958 VOS (with black plastic)
2008 Gibson Les Paul Traditional Goldtop (with the cream plastic from the 58RI)
> Marshall Bluesbreaker 2 pedal >Boss sd-1> DD3 > Vox Ac15cc1

Hi Danny. I can't find the reference you mention on their website nor in their store... DO you have an accurate link somewhere? I want to check these out. I have Sommer Spirit XXL cables which are pretty good but I may change those someday...
