Topic: Marc Ford

The guy who made/makes the Black Crowes special...

...man, can he play guitar. His solo stuff is equally good - tone to die for, yet he plays through something different each time and still sounds like Marc Ford.

Re: Marc Ford

I'm a huge Crowes fan!  But you can't forget Audley Freed era either, or the guy on the first 2 or 3 albums I think... All different types of players that gave the band different feels... hard to choose, more of a mood listening choice...  I was lucky enough to see the Crowes with Marc right before he left.  I have to say though, Luther isn't my favorite for this band, but a great player indeed... maybe seeing him live with them will change my mind.  I will be seeing them in NYC on November 4th... Pretty stoked as they are going on Hiatus after this tour...  Last chance to get some live Crowes  smile .

Great clip! Thanks for posting

Re: Marc Ford

Caught Mark 2 nights in a row earlier this year with the Steepwater Band as his backing band. It was the only 2 U.S. dates they did as a warm-up for an European tour. Great stuff. Fantastic guitarist.

As far as the Crowes go I think Mark was the best with them and Luther is great as the current guitarist.

When I was a child I spoke as a child, But all I heard was how I should get ahead,
Now growing up it ain't anything but all This indecision with these debts and doubts
And worries hanging over my head. When I was a child I spoke as a child,
I wish I could remember what I said.

Re: Marc Ford

Thanks for sharing. I am a big Mark Ford fan, and I agree with many here that he made the Crowes a better band; though I still like the Crowes allot, I think he made them better.

I got to meet and visit with Mark a few years ago here in Missoula when he played with Blue Floyd. Great guy, took the time to visit and never seemed bothered to be talking to a fan.

I recommend his solo work to anyone who likes good guitar.

EDIT: Also I think the Crowes' dvd/bluray Freak N Roll Into The Fog is a showcase for Ford - perfect playing and tone on each and every song - that said, it's one of the best music concert videos to date - stunning atmosphere and they are on fire. Very jealous of those who went to one of those five nights...
