Re: Best Joe B Cover I have heard !!

A cover of a cover... does that mean that it cancels the cover value of the cover and makes it original?  It would be cool to see new spins on that tune, like JB did...  But the fellows in the video did do a nice job on the JB version.

Wow, talking about crawling up someones ****, even the theremin is there. Would love to hear him doing Woke Up Dreaming live version note by note including extended soloing, I nailed it allready, See if he is up for that task.

Re: Best Joe B Cover I have heard !!

Hauntingly funny. Very good emulation!
WOW this is really good. They can bring it!

I see only two necessary improvements:
1. everyone is wearing socks.
2. Singer has a lyrics sheet

I doubt he would get it note for note.  He's pretty good, and has all the same equipment but he's nowhere near as good as most people are making him out to be.  -S.

Re: Best Joe B Cover I have heard !!

Do they have their own songs?

It could be great.

Yeah look him up on youtube.  He has a band and some videos.  These kids do have a lot of talent. -S

Re: Best Joe B Cover I have heard !!

These guys do a version of machine gun that excites me all over... Its like being a kids again and wanting to pick up the guitar for the first time.  They have some talent... I wish the guitar player would go after his own tone and excite us with something other than Joes tone... But I get off on seeing what other people use for guitars and amps so his set up bores me.

Re: Best Joe B Cover I have heard !!

Guys, someone else can fill in the blanks here or correct me, BUT if my memory serves me correctly, Steve won this custom Joe Les Paul he is playing in this video for selling the most amount of CD's in a Joe sponsored contest.  He also traveled from Canada with his mom to the RAH show to see Joe perform in London.

Re: Best Joe B Cover I have heard !!

I thought Patti won the guitar.  But I cant recall if there has been another contest. They rock regardless.

Re: Best Joe B Cover I have heard !!

Patti definitely won a guitar!  Steve definitely won something for selling alot of Joe CD's,...maybe it was the trip to London to see Joe.

Agreed, they rock regardless!!  And have some great equipment to go with the talent.

Re: Best Joe B Cover I have heard !!

Sorry, guys, I gotta chime in here. If Steve's guilty of anything it's having a dad who believes in him and bought him a bunch of expensive gear. I could have spent the dough on a fancy car or a bigger house or a lakeside cottage, but I didn't. Steve never asked for a single item of the stuff he's got and sounded just as good through the used Fender combo he started with. He's been playing for just under 5 years, works very hard at it and JB just happens to be the guy who turned him on to the instrument. Do I wish it had been one of the dozens of other artists out there with signature gear that can be had for a lot less? Well...no. Because name someone who would have been a better mentor for a shy teenager with a desire to emulate a great player, the way most of us get started as musicians.

Steve understands the importance of finding his own style and works hard at that every day, too. If you're interested, have a look at an original tune he posted recently on YouTube. The bass player/singer joined the band just a few weeks ago.

Re: Best Joe B Cover I have heard !!

Hey Sean, good to see you on the forum man.  I remember hearing from you when you guys were putting that monster rig together...wow it really sounds great!  You guys did a great job.  I understand your position defending your kid (lord knows I would too) but I guess you gotta have a little bit of thick skin.  You are obviously in a MUCH different place financially than most on this forum so the Green Monster of Envy will show through a little.  It happens all the time on The Gear Page when someone buys a Dumble or Trainwreck.  No sweat bro, your boy is a mighty fine player with a rockin' setup.  It's a guitar player's nature to explore and try new things so his setup will change accordingly.  I have to say, the theremin setup is pretty cool....I'm a little jealous of that one!  wink

Re: Best Joe B Cover I have heard !!

Sean,
Thanks for chiming in and the youtube link which is excellent...and apologies NOT accepted...nothing to apologize about.

Steve is awesome...and from one parent to another, YOU DONE GOOD!!   smile

Now help me clear up my memory, didn't Steve win a "Joe" contest?  And agreed, Joe is an excellent mentor.  I'm lovin' the young musicians that Joe has embraced!

Re: Best Joe B Cover I have heard !!

Thanks stratpaulguy and Angela. He's a terrific young man and I'm very proud of him.

The theremin was a Christmas gift.

Steve won the trip to Joe's RAH concert. A great experience for him.
