Topic: Oli Brown, Zoetermeer, Oct. 8

Only just 'remembered' today that Oli will be down the road on Friday evening, the same day that Cathy will be seeing JST in Annapolis! Talk about a coinkydink, huh?  big_smile

So who else is going? Any chance of a mini-Bonabuds meet? Andre, Marco, Marianne, Annelies, Suuz, anyone else?

Re: Oli Brown, Zoetermeer, Oct. 8

I took the liberty of changing the date from Feb. to Oct. I was not able to make that show, but I'm there (same venue) tomorrow night. As far as I know I'll only have Marco for company, unless some other locals are going too? My usual suspects are all unable to go.  sad

Also very much looking forward to saying hi to Oli and Graham and to collecting our t-shirts, as well as seeing Eric Sardinas for the first time.

Tomorrow kick-starts my incredible six weeks of shows. After the two gents named here, I'll be seeing Davy Knowles, Sunny Landreth, Joe Satriani, Danny Bryant (maybe), Joe three times, and Michael Burks to completely finish me off!  tongue   lol

Live it's Eric's "As the Crow Flies" that can't be topped.
But so far I have never heard Aynsley Lister playing it live. Aynsley's version is my favourite version on CD.

I'll see both guys this month  lol
15 October - Aynsley Lister at Tatort in Übach Palenberg (somewhere near Aachen not so far away from the Netherlands)
19 October - Eric Sardinas at Piano in Dortmund (Ruhr area)

Re: Oli Brown, Zoetermeer, Oct. 8

I'm sorry, my friends. I got home at 1:30 after spending five hours on my old feet, and to put it mildly, I'm knackered. I'll make this post and then collapse.

The videos may be a disappointment as Oli's voice was hard to hear live, so it's likely to be even less distinct on film. The new cover was 'Can't stand the rain', though it took me a while to recognize it. I think I have three Oli songs on film, I just hope they don't sound awful - will upload tomorrow.

I had an absolutely stunning, very special evening. Marco and Bibi, who are both also doing all three Joe shows were there too. I got to talk with Oli and Graham, got pictures signed for Cathy and me, and begged the only set list, which Oli also signed for me.

I'll give my first Eric Sardinas experience a five on the jaw-drop scale. He truly is one of a kind! And a really sweet, soft-spoken guy, who signed a picture of Cathy with him at the Ram's Head for me. Yes Rick, he played 'Crow flies' but I didn't film it - and yes, it was killer good! The thing about filming is that you have to keep still, which is very hard when your body desperately wants to move. I do have one marvelous, soft acoustic number, which I will also upload tomorrow if it's audible.

But without doubt the highlight of my evening was meeting Sandra and becoming instant friends with someone who is clearly one of 'us'! (I know you will see this Sandra, please register and join us here, you'll feel completely at home!) How often do you have a conversation with a complete stranger at a show and wind up being good friends after 10 minutes? By the way, the conversation started with her pointing at my RAH tee shirt and asking if I had been there. She has the dvd and is a Joe fan! That's a pretty special thing, a 'gift' as she called it, and she's right. We will stay in touch and see her again on my birthday in Groningen, where she happens to live.

I've been very, very lucky this evening. I had wonderful music, good company, and made a new friend...the aches and pains I feel all over now are a small price to pay for that much fun.

Good night, all.  wink

Sounds like a 10 on the enjoyment scale George! cool I'm so glad you got all you wished for. I totally empathize with the trouble doing video. I leave the holding still to the experts. Impossible for me. Great times and review.

Thanks for your sweet words, George! Now I HAVE to register  wink
It was a great and special evening. Both in a musical as in a social way.

Re: Oli Brown, Zoetermeer, Oct. 8

Hi Hammer!
It was a great night! Nice meeting you again!

I liked the opening act, they looked a little bit shy, but in the meantime they did a great job. Good guitarplayer.
Than Oli: my first Oli gig. He's good, has a good voice too! Had my album signed and we had a picture made too. The only thing: in front of the stage the sound really was out of balance, that's a pity.
Than Eric. Eric was amaaaaaaaaaaaaaazing! From what I've seen and heard of this guy I didn't know what to expect. A "black", mysterious kind of guy maybe? But he's so friendly and knows how to interact with the audience!!!!!!!!! He really is a unique kind of person and artist. He's just... Eric.
So everybody: If you don't know him, do yourself a favour and find out!
