Re: Calling Dublin?

This will probably be very short as its from my phone !

Show last night was great as usual. Joes playing and singing was faultless. He's seriously amazing ! Playing was spot on ! Some of the solos like on Sloe Gin were just jaw dropping !

He opened up with a cover of Rory Gallaghers cradle rock. Last time in Cork he played it on  strat but he played it on a LP last night. Sounded great. He really should record it !

He didnt have his usual back-line so was just using a Marshall JVM and my view was kinda obstructed of the other amp but im pretty sure it was a DSL on the green channel (clean/crunch). I presume these was just rented ? (I could of loaned him my DSL and Engl Blackmore (i know he used this before). Save him a few bucks  lol  )

Only had 3-4 guitars last night i think. His two sig LPs, a 1959 re-issue, and an acoustic.

Cant remember the setlist but he played Cradle Rock, Happier Times, Sloe Gin, If Heartaches were Nickles, The Ballad of John Henry, Just got paid, Lonesome Road Blues, Woke up Dreaming (outstanding) and plenty more. Show was a good 2 hours long.

Im pretty sure the ballad of john henry was played in standard tuning instead of dropped down so it sounded different. He played a great solo on that one though.

He got a few standing ovations after certain songs and theres a few sore heads today. Including mine !

All in all great show - as usual !

Re: Calling Dublin?

Aw man I really wish I could have been there sad. Unfortunately to travel from Belfast on thursday to come back up again the same night would have been too much. A downside to being a poor university student with 9 o'clock starts lol. Shame there were no Belfast dates for Joe this year, I think the Ulster Hall would be great for Joe.

On a side note, I was at the Spring and Airbrake on Tuesday night where Joe played back in July '08  and I saw a poster for Glenn Hughes who is playing there tomorrow. A bit of a coincidence big_smile

Hope everyone really enjoyed the Dublin show smile
Matt

Re: Calling Dublin?

Glad you had a good time, savo. If you check out the Madrid thread on this forum you'll see the likely set list you experienced last night.

Cradle Rock was the first track on ANDY and the second track on ANDY Live.  wink

My turn tomorrow at Folkestone.  big_smile

Re: Calling Dublin?

Thanks Savo!!  It sounds like you had a blast and I know the players appreciate the techie talk.

Matt!!! Never again. You have been such a fan for so long..and you're still a mere babe. As soon as you know there's a show "near" you, the ticket is on me!!  The other details can be worked out as well. You are Bona-Blessed     wink  Cathy
