Re: What are these??

Also, surf the site,  There's some amazing Gold Tops, Jimmy Page's, Slash's...No JB's though.

Re: What are these??

They're chinese made fakes. BEWARE!!!!

Re: What are these??

Did you really believe that you could get such guitars for 300 bucks? Come on!  lol

Re: What are these??

Its like the 70's when Ibanez was coping Gibsons and fenders, some of those guitars are very good.... I own a Ibanez LP great guitar..... I wonder if any of these are they sure look nice.

Re: What are these??

Chinese fakes...horrible guitars, the pics are never closed to the real thing you will receive. Not worth even for exposure.

I saw a JB chinese copy once and It was terrible.

Re: What are these??

I definately know they're fakes..c'mon.  Just intrigued by the pics.  I think it's kinda funny that they have Made in USA engraved on the back and "Gibsun" on the head stock.  But on the other hand didn't Tokai have a Les Paul knock off that people rave about?

Re: What are these??

They do sure look tempting in the pictures, but I'd be unsettled about buying one.  Has anyone ever actually played a chinese copy like these?  300 bucks is still a lot of money, and to waste it on a fake guitar?.. -S.

Re: What are these??

Lots of people have these chinese replicas. Many times what you order does not match the pic. I'm not sure if they use real gibsons for the pics, and make something that just looks similar or not.

My local luthier in Detroit sees many come across his desk. Setup, new nut, and pickup upgrade make them just like an Epi quality piece... according to the people that like them.

Gibson however is really against this counterfeiting for a couple reasons. One is resale value... you could really rip someone off that may not know any better. There's a Zakk Wylde sig. gibson replica on craigslist right now - they want $3,000 for it - and I can tell just by looking at that it's a $300 chinese replica. The OTHER side of their gripe is the lower quality associated with their brand and their identitiy.

There was a white "Gibson Les Paul" on craigslist about 4 months ago around here.  The guy wanted 1300, then 1200, then in the next week or so it was all the way down to 300..  The guy was insistent on it being "REAL".

Re: What are these??

This thread wouldn't be a thread without posting this... it's a really cool page that Gibson threw together.

Re: What are these??

If you buy one you just keep them in business. I agree they look cool. I think the whole thing about the '70's Japenese knock-off's, Tokai, et al is that they were really trying to copy the look AND quality of the instrument. They would not put Gibson on the headstock. With the Chinese copies - it's ALL about the look. Doesn't China sell enough crap out there on the global market? Leave our beloved guitars alone. Just MHO - please don't take any offense  wink .

Re: What are these??

We don't need the market flooded with these fakes.

Re: What are these??

ya know chinese guitars are going up in quality in my opinion. Guitar Fetish has a Xaviere line that is pretty good. I own an ES-335 copy that is worth all the $300 I paid for it. Breedlove acoustics are made in China and feel nice quality too. So I think those factories are getting some decent experience and high quality control.

The gibson copies however have very skinny headstocks and other things with them. You can use the heastock as a whammy bar because they bend fairly easily. Not sure how it would react to bigger strings in 440

Re: What are these??

The guitar you get wont look anything like the one pictured. The one pictured is most likely a murphy. The one you get will look nowhere near it.
