Re: NFL 2010/11 SEAS0N

Darn sad to hear, but glad for players like him.  Quarterback AND Kicker.   Try that on for size!  I got disgusted Sunday watching a raider (not capitalized on purpose) player get ticked by Sebastian Janikowski missing his THIRD field goal attempt, and it WAS a 32 yarder that would have won the game in the end...but you don't throw your helmet down in disgust ON THE FIELD like you are a junior varsity upstart punk.  The kicker has to do something NONE of the other guys can do, and do it under PRESSURE and rely on so many things and others actions before he gives the boot... Childish, prima donna indeed.  Old school they would be saying "it's ok, get 'em next time"!

I would say that there are some VERY tough players nowadays just like in the past................not to mention everyone is most definately faster, stronger, larger and more powerful nowadays............

Re: NFL 2010/11 SEAS0N

Blanda was the real deal. I got to see Unitas play here in his twilight. Fouts was a very tough guy too. The O line was kind of porous and he took a beating more often than not.

Man, I gotta jump in here and say that the Giants defense is killing my fantasy team.  roll

Re: NFL 2010/11 SEAS0N

Bill, Bears +4 at NYG ??? I don't get it if the defense is that bad. Usually with a line like this, I have to believe that Vegas knows something we don't. Yeah, like it's time for NY to have a breakout game and put a hurting on Ms Cutler. Conversely, Urlacher - Peppers - Anderson and others will try to put up some good D against Eli. I believe your fortunes will be better this week.

Yesterday the football world lost Geoge Blanda.

I learned to love football while at the end of his career with the Raiders.  He was the go to guy with many talents on the football field.

The guys that play the game nowadays are pussies & prima donnas compared to George. They don't make guys like him any more. Not to mention most of the other guys that played with & against him. I'm lucky to be have been around long enough to have watched guys like George, Nitscke, Butkus, Jim Brown....well you other old timers can add to the list, you know the kind of players I'm talkin' about. I'm talkin' about the guys that would leave the field battered, bruised, and bloodied every Sunday and only on Sunday.

NOT entirely true.  The GAME is played faster, more like a roughed up version of gym class touch football.  Stronger? Debatable.   Larger, no argument here. But the BEST players play the fundamentals.  Dancin', prancin', celebrating something far too much....tackling? HAH!  Show me a team who blocks, runs, grunts, form tackles, takes nothing for granted (excluding real confidence, but NOT over-confidence)...I'll show you a winning team.  I could coach them.
Tougher? No way! Not a close call, no replay needed.

Bears +4??
I guess I should get me some of that.
And as long as Cutler keeps playing like he has so far, you can call him Ms., Miss, Mrs., ...whatever

Lol...predictable post by rocket.

there is NO debate players today are bigger faster stronger more powerful and explosive than in the past.....the average of those attributes is much higher in players today than in the past......its not a debate   its just true............to say there are no tough players today is just stupid........there are/were tough players of all eras.............the quote that players are pussies these days is what i responded to...........im sure there were pussies back then too.

now, whether players are technically skilled like they should be is another topic..........and i highly doubt you could coach them better than the coaches do today rocket..........LOL

Don't be jumpn on my cuz, now.   hmm   You have some good points, though.  I'm against steroids and I'm against fat.  Wes Welker is tough.  I hate him.  wink not big though.  Howie Long in the day?  6'6" 275 lbs w/34" waist?  Even Bart Star and Hornung & Taylor were fairly ruff, before them.  Ronnie Lott?  balanced savagery with a calm that was scary...

Now The Czonka, The Diesel;  ahh well...but back to now.  What bothers me is sloppy football...Stupid penalties, missed tackles, dropped passes..I'm figsin to hack up a hairball.  For that kinda money????  Wankers and pretty boys in ballet slippers fixing their makeup and their hair in the huddle...

Fret Barf throwin ints in the endzone?

Same with music.  Sloppy solos, missed cues, sing flat, floppy endings...argh.    mad

Vince Lombardi used to tell sloppy players on the sidelines "I don't know how you expect to keep your job playing like that..."

The camera work is way better of course.

I love Jano, but it was a bad game for him.  Which is okay it was just the timing.  He is always so good.  Hopefully he can shake it off and get a better trajectory going.  We are rooting for him.

First that was a tough game to lose when your in the game throughout and it is going back and forth.

I understand he has to do it under pressure which no one wants to do.  But he has a different role than most other football players.    He's is not on the field most of the time.  He is only on the field a few times a game.  That is his role, to kick field goals.
Nnamdi has to cover Larry Fitzgerald.  Try doing that for about half the game.  Nnamdi has to be a lot more perfect than Jano.

I don't know who threw the helmet, but they will work as a team to get ready for next week.

Re: NFL 2010/11 SEAS0N

Blanda would've made it with his opposite foot. Maybe C-Bass is still poppin' ecstacy. Did you hear that Janikowski tried to commit suicide? He missed, wide left. Sorry, an old place kicker joke, plug in your not so favorite kickers name.

Yes,  there used to be is right...........that was many years ago............Grandfather passed away about 15 years ago...
