Topic: Happiness is a AC15 HW

So I bit the bullet and sold off a ton of my gear to be able to buy this amp.  I had to trade two amps, two pedals, a preamp, and my soul.

Its a Vox AC15 Handwired 50th anniversary. Let me tell you... I now understand why some of you use your volume knob. I never liked the natural overdrive of my other amps because they honestly were not that good of an amp.  Now I cant get enough of the natural overdrive of this amp. I am rethinking my entire effects board.

I just ordered a Tim pedal a month ago so that will help... but I think the Fulldrives are going... I think boost pedals are going to be the new thing.

Anyway if you like Vox Amps.  If the tone in your head is anything like Mike Campbell, REM, Beatles, Lifehouse, The Black Crowes... This amp is the one for you.

Amazing Tone.

That's great! Sometimes you need to change your rig to keep it interesting for yourself  smile.

The plunge has always scared me. You may have given me the courage to grab myself a Cornell romany. I can't, the waters cold.

As Nike's ad campaign says, Fuzzblues..."just DO it".  If you don't, you'll probably end up regretting it.  I've spent well over what I wanted to avoid spending to get a boutique amp by buying three different ones and still don't have the sound I'd like.  You only live once...

Re: Happiness is a AC15 HW

So true, been wanting a botique amp for about $4k for 2-years now and though I have a great amp in a Ceriatone OTS, but still have GAS for this amp.  If I add up all the pedals, guitars, etc that I purchased since getting GAS for this amp, I could have bought two of them.

I'm starting to get closer to selling some gear (so hard to get rid of your children) to reduce inventory to only my best stuff and just take cash and get another amp, maybe a little Two Rock Jet Sig Combo for little jams at bar - easy grab n go amp and better quality than my Tweed Blues Jr....just have 5-star equipment and nothing in between...sickening how buying a pedal here and there for $200, guitar for $1,500 adds up at end of year, yet I complain abouty not having this amp.

Re: Happiness is a AC15 HW

there is too much to chose from. I was checking out the DR Z Mini Z and now I want one of those.

Re: Happiness is a AC15 HW

I have been looking for a Handwired Vox for awile.  I saw the Black Crowes on Letterman and Rich was playing thru a AC30HW if not a AC15HW head.  It sounded great.  I began the search and found this one at a store near Washington DC.  Its kind of beat up but it sounds wonderful.

I mostly play for my church's praise team.  We cover about 90% Hillsong material so a Vox amp is really the Tone needed. I strive for a Mix between The Edge and Mike Campbell.

Now I'm just waiting for my TIM pedal and hopefully that will end my gas issues for awile.  That is until I start wanting my Handwired AC30 or Bruno Underground 30 for bigger gigs.

Right now playing for 500 people two times every sunday is my gig.  That Vox is perfect for that.

Took the plunge with a cornell plexi 7. Good a good deal on a used one. I'll report back.
