Riverside County, CA in late September.

It was 112 deg F at my house yesterday and headed for much of the same today.

Santa Ana winds starting to bring hot dry air in from the deserts.

Watch your TV's folks. CA is about to have its annual fire season which makes national news every year.

Yep, here we go. My partner had his home saved by direct water drop last year right after they evacuated. They dropped the H20 as the firestorm overran the house and it worked since the wind was so strong.  yikes

Thanks Ian, most of that I get to experience firsthand being in the south. I try to avoid going to Walmart, but they also have a "Neighborhood Grocery" chain that does not make you want to kill yourself or others. I have seen this stuff in both stores. Next time I'm taking the phone and see what shows up.

Jury Duty.  Only if you legally can.

But I couldn't, so I am.

Budget meetings...

10 people in a room for 12 hours today arguing over selling price, labor costs, healthcare costs, pension costs, electricity costs, natural gas costs, diesel costs, packaging costs, equipment lease costs, capital project costs, royalty costs, property taxes, rail freight rates, product mix, product yields, product recovery, asset retirement obligations. blah, blah blah, blah blah, blah blah.

And we get to do it all over again next week with the CFO and CEO.

my brain is tired

gotta disagree on that one. if you consider yourself a fair and intelligent person, think about how it would affect you if your future hinged on the decisions of unfair and stupid jurors. but i do understand its a PITA...

PITA is right.  I understand the need for jurors but having to sit in trial for 5 or more days puts a kink in managing your personal life.  And I didn't mean to condone anyone to lie to get out of jury duty, but it can be legally avoided if one has a valid acceptable reason to plead either when you get the notice or with a judge.

I had no valid reasons and the councils found me acceptable so I am serving a trial that is at least 5 days.  Trying to squeeze a couple of hours of priority work in before I'm off to court for the day.  It is an interesting process but I've done it before about 3 years ago.  I get called quite often and know of some who never get called.  What's up with that?

OMG, I assumed you were kidding Jane.  lol

I have a new food no-no thanks to the avocado growers. Absolutely NO avocado should ever go on a hot dog or a hamburger. They have done a good job with the commercials, even enlisting the help of John Lynch, a former NFL safety?? don't get that at all. The Chicago dogs with the strange green relish and pickles are a little outside the lines, but hey it's Chitown and they ain't changing.
