Re: NFL 2010/11 SEAS0N

I wish Dexter had played at Alabama, but he came from Ole Miss. Javier Arenas from Alabama was the other return guy, he also looked very good on two tries. The Chiefs may be a force to be reckoned with, defense was very agressive. They said it this morning, SD turnovers and yes the special teams ruined their day. I was glad to see the Ravens make NY eat their pregame statements, the Jets are only going to go as far as Sanchez can take them, which may not be very far.

I have a feeling that had the call happened the other way around, Packers fans everywhere would be saying what a great call it was.

It's possible Bill, that some Packer fans might have thought that, but I would not list myself as one of them. True, I'm a fervent Packer fan, but if that wasn't a touchdown then whatever rule that says it wasn't should be changed.

Actually, come to think of it, I spent 4 hours yesterday afternoon up on my sunroom's roof calking resulting in me missing the first half of the Packer game. I knew it was on, so maybe that would take away my "fervent" status. wink

Oh my aching knees and back are killing me today!

By the way, next time I park near your Bear's mailbox, maybe I'll park my Packer car right on it.  lol  lol  lol  lol

Only kidding buddy!!

Roy

Roy,
The reason I said that is that the three people I know that commented in the negative were all Packers fans.
Coincidence??? Perhaps.
BTW, when I know you're coming by, I'll break out my spare mailbox...it's green and gold, lol!

Hope to see ya soon buddy.

How interesting that McNeill suddenly signed the Charger's tender after watching the results of V. Jackson's holdout.  lol He wants to play after all.  roll Owners 1-Agents 0

Watched the end of the very exciting and entertaining Atlanta vs. Nawlins game, before discovering that the Skins were 14-0 down after no time at all and that the one available stream was unwatchable...thereby sparing me the misery of seeing the rest of the first half before I hit the sack.

Still, the Ravens won.  big_smile

Good grief. Chargers shot themselves in the foot multiple times. Special teams coach just better slide on out of town.

Face it Leon Washington used rehabilitation time from a broken leg and a trade based on presuming speculation to his advantage and showed up with greased lightning on his cleats.  He was a blur, setting 2 records for longest kickoff return in Seattle Seahawk history, 101 yards, and then nearly broke another one, before actually setting ANOTHER Seahawk record for the 2nd longest (behind himself for the previous one!), 99 yards! Amazing.  Give credit where credit is due. The trick in kickoff and punt return is draw them into a trap, then spring and sprint.  He and they did it marvelously.  Mr. Nathaniel Kaeding may be THE accurate kicker, but he is a chicken when it comes to tackling.  My sister with 2 bad knees could run by him.  Rivers sets a record for passing yards but erases it tossing bad ones and loses to boot.  NOT just busting the Chargers, the Forty-Niners got spanked badmad Chiefs & Jets look very good.

Well deserved busting. The failure to retain Kassim Osgood has come back to bite them hard.

Roy, I have to admit that the Packers really shot themselves in the foot with penalties, especially those of the stupid variety.
False starts and holds are going to happen, but the helmet to helmet on the QB and that DB taking down the receiver well after the whistle were just plain dumb and probably cost the Packers the game.
They'll be fine if they can eliminate that stuff...I hate to say it, but the Packers have a pretty good team.

That's true Bill, but I must say, the Bears have one hell of a defense, especially in the defensive line and linebackers. With a few better cover guys, no one would score on them! Also, Cutler showed me a lot more last night than I had seen previously from him. I like his toughness and you could see the determination in his face that even if you knock him down, he gets back up even stronger. The one place the Packers are very lacking in is their running game. And just because Ryan Grant is out for the season, wouldn't have made that much of a difference. What they really need to make them unstoppable is a sustained running game to compliment Rodgers aerial game.

The two penalties that really had me pulling my hair out, and I don't have much to pull, were the back to back false start calls on Tauscher when the Packers were pinned at the 1/2 yard line. This guy has been around for years; one is bad, but back to back were inexcusable!

Luckily they were "half the distance" penalties and resulted in about 2" of losses, lol! I almost felt embarrassed for him.

Yesterday the football world lost Geoge Blanda.

I learned to love football while at the end of his career with the Raiders.  He was the go to guy with many talents on the football field.

The guys that play the game nowadays are pussies & prima donnas compared to George. They don't make guys like him any more. Not to mention most of the other guys that played with & against him. I'm lucky to be have been around long enough to have watched guys like George, Nitscke, Butkus, Jim Brown....well you other old timers can add to the list, you know the kind of players I'm talkin' about. I'm talkin' about the guys that would leave the field battered, bruised, and bloodied every Sunday and only on Sunday.
