metz420, I do agree with you; if you need it, can use it, and actually makes sense to spend that money, then so be it. Tone/cost/need/versatility are easily justifiable and general selling points for a musician It was just a personal opinion from my poor perspective. If I could afford it, then I would likely pick one up without a second thought. I am still secretly hoping one will fall on my lap through some miracle at a more affordable price!
BTW, my birthday is in two weeks! Anyone? Anybody?
Happy Early Birthday! Best of luck with your future acquisition. You know, despite the wait and the premium the Ethos is able to fetch these days, I do see a lot of folks selling (and trading) their Ethos over at TGP. It is worth looking in their emporium often for deals, especially if you have some gear you can offer up. If you are only interested in the gain capabilities of the Ethos, I would seriously consider the Jetter Red Shift. Grossly underrated, much easier to acquire, cheaper and competes significantly (again, IMHO) with the Zendrive - another unit that is not so easy to get in my experience.
Opportunity costs vs. a new amp aside, the REAL test of the Ethos will be how long it can stave off my GAS. So far, 1 month and counting and no desire to get something else.
Crap, I think I just jinxed myself....
