So far this tour appears to be a one weekend gig in Connecticut....
Would like to see some stand alone dates.
Sandy
Lots more shows have been added with the Rhythm Devils. Might want to check for a show near you. I've now secured tickets to the Milwaukee show.

Roy, I asked my taper friend if he has any interest in the 8/27 Sherman Theater show, and he said he already has a pair of tickets, and there's a good chance he'll end up inviting me. Now that does not necessarily mean he/we will end up at the show... his concert plans are always subject to change, whether he has tickets in hand or not. But assuming he goes, I'll have a good recording to share afterwards.

That's great Vikki! Let me know if you do get a recording of the show.

An interview with some of the members of the Rhythm Devils along with a song that has Davy Knowles on lead guitar and vocals. Some very high praise indeed for the young man.

Safe to say Davy can add channeling the "Fat Man" to his growing list of credits. Hope they eventually bring this act home to the Bay Area.

Roy, I'm surprised you never posted your review here (as received by email), or at least a few words and your photo link or something. I need to bust on you because you took something like 113 photos and somehow managed to get NOT EVEN ONE face shot of Bill or Mickey! Yeah, yeah, I know, you were in the first row and they were hidden behind their drums and other band members... but geez, they're original Grateful Dead members... you couldn't have made an little effort?
So anyway, my show was last night... it was a great show, glad I went... got drunk and had a blast, haha! And of course I have download links to share. Keith ran 2 different sets of mics... I've sampled some of each and can't decide which is better... they both sound pretty darn good! --Vik

I'm sorry Vikki, but I didn't want to post a long review here, but since you already did, I guess I can copy and paste mine here. As far as no pictures of Bill or Mickey, actually I was standing next to the stage up front and the rest of the floor space was jammed with people dancing. I was getting slapped around pretty good by some of the women with their hands flying and believe or not, the floor was actually bouncing a little like a trampoline making taking photos a bit difficult. Sure wish though I would have had my video camera. Anyway, here's my version of what happened this past Tuesday night......
Had the pleasure of really seeing a great show in Milwaukee at the Pabst Theater this past Tuesday night. This time it was the Rhythm Devils which are comprised of former Grateful Dead members Mickey Hart and Bill Kreutzman on percussion, Davy Knowles and Tim Bluhm sharing lead guitar and vocals, Sikiru Adepoju on talking drum and Andy Hess on bass. It's very hard to put a label on the music we all heard, because it's such a mix of everything. I guess you could call it Blues/Rock/Jazz/Funk/Psychedelic Jam Band with a slight African beat to it.
Believe it or not, this was my first visit to the Pabst Theater although I have attended many shows at its sister theaters, the Riverside Theater and Turner Hall. As I sat in the front row a member of the audience told me as soon as the performers would come out, everyone would rush the stage. Sure enough, that’s what happened, so instead of being able to sit for the next 3 hours, I stood next to the stage positioned with Davy Knowles in front of me.
All of the players in this band are excellent musicians. Of course, I am a bit biased when it comes to Davy having seen him perform as a solo act and with his own group, Back Door Slam, at least a dozen times. Davy more than fits his role here and shines rather brightly amongst the older members of the band. During the night many of the "Dead Heads" that were in the audience asked who the "young kid" was on lead guitar and vocals. Of course, that always leads to a discussion with name spelling as far as Davy is concerned. Sure wish he had business cards, like Joe does, to hand out with his web info on them. It would make the job of his Street Team members like me much easier. Anyway, like I’ve seen him do many times before, Davy thrilled the crowd.
Another outstanding member of the band is Sikiru Adepoju and I can't even attempt to tell you the great sounds that this man was able to bring out of his tiny talking drum, simply fantastic! Both Mickey Hart and Bill Kreutzman drive the rhythm of the group and it sure appeared to me that Mickey Hart directs the group as I many times saw Davy and Tim Bluhm look to him for ques. Speaking of Tim Bluhm, he also is a very accomplished guitarist although I must admit, many in the crowd preferred Davy’s voice to Tim’s. Lastly on bass was Andy Hess and I was not even aware that he was a former bass player with Gov’t Mule until Reverend Paul, who was also present at the show, told me; always great to see the Rev and Cathy!
The crowd that was present at the show were really into the night. Many of them that were up next to the stage were dancing and when I say dancing, I mean dancing! Almost felt a little like the days of Woodstock , minus the mud of course. In summation as I said before, wherever you live, whatever you do, you must see this show! I guarantee you will not be disappointed!
I was able to take a number of pictures and I must apologize if they are a little blurry. No flash was used in accordance with the wishes of the venue. I’m still kicking myself that I didn’t bring along my video recorder. Even though videos were not allowed, there would have been no problem taking them as no one even bothered to check my camera bag at the door. Here’s the pictures:

I had never listed to the Rhtyhm Devils before, but I spent all weekend checking out clips & concerts. Great band - thanks for turning me onto them!
Well I had my turn last Saturday, and was pleasantly surprised. I have never really listened to much stuff by the Dead so I had no expectations for this show. I even avoided videos so I wouldn't have any preconceived notions. Turned out to be a great show. Nothing like watching a great group of musicians just jamming away on a Saturday night! Davy seems to be having a great time, and it is very interesting to watch him play with another guitarist and a larger band. He did, of course, manage to blow the crowd away with his excellent vocals and guitar solos. One guy asked me if he was Mickey Hart's son! And it was a VERY interesting crowd - not the bunch you would see at a typical Joe show. Thank goodness it was a seated show - I think I would have been trampled by all the dancers.
The show ended with Cortez. I saw Davy play this two years ago with Mule (I think it was his first time playing it 'cause he looked thoroughly lost the whole time), but he now OWNS this song. Amazing stuff.

Great to see JBRules and a few of the other New England folks. Nice chat with Davy before the show - he promises to not turn into a hippy, and look out Europe he is headed your way.

George, have you listened to the Rhythm Devils show I posted above (post #10)? There are 4 links there... my friend ran 2 different sets of mics (he prefers the Neumann recording, but they're both good), and there's an Archive.org and a Etree.org link for each. Not sure if you're into bit torrent, but there ARE still seeders on those Etree uploads. And incase you're not familiar with Archive, that does not involve bit torrent to download, and you can also stream it right at your computer using the music player.

JamBase published a real good article today about Rhythm Devils that I thought some of you might be interested in reading. For the Davy Knowles fans, there are quotes from him throughout (as well as from the other players). They will be playing Jam Cruise (1/4 thru 1/9) and then Revolution Live in Ft Lauderdale on 1/9.

For anyone who missed Keith's 8/27/10 Sherman Theater recording, here's the Archive link again:

Or, for those who do bit torrent, there are still currently 2 seeders:

I thought the show was fantastic... I'd go see them again in the heartbeat!

JamBase published a lengthy review and a bunch of photos of Jam Cruise 9 the other day... here's a link incase anybody is interested in reading the whole thing or viewing photos http://www.jambase.com/Articles/25690/J … iew-Pics/0 ... but here's a copy & paste of just the part about The Rhythm Devils' performance (written by Dennis Cook)... overall very positive:
The Rhythm Devils :: 2:00-4:00 AM :: Pool Deck
The new lineup of Bill Kreutzmann and Mickey Hart’s long running project was a real rock ‘n’ roll beast. Though playing a number of Grateful Dead numbers, this band – comprised of the drummers, Tim Bluhm (guitar, vocals), Davy Knowles (guitar, vocals), Andy Hess (bass) and Sikiru Adepoju (talking drum) with Steve Kimock joining them on the Cruise – moves along a MUCH different current. One recognizes the melodies and words but the feel is quite different. For one thing, Bluhm and Knowles are have much stronger voices than Weir or Garcia. Hey, I love Jerry and Bob as much as the next guy, but there’s something really cool about hearing powerful, dexterous vocalists tackle pieces like “Ship of Fools,” “U.S. Blues” and “Ripple.” This isn’t said to be disrespectful but to simply point out a key difference. Mickey and Billy didn’t choose these guys casually, and the difference is really felt in the new originals, where the drummers even lay down their version of a straight backbeat on a couple poppier pieces.
This group also cooked on classics like “Cumberland Blues” and “Uncle John’s Band,” breathing air into the familiar. I think it helps that Knowles, Hess and Bluhm weren’t tie-dyed-in-the-wool Deadheads before joining up. This music is largely new to them and thus comes across to our ears with a freshness that’s exciting. Hess is especially striking in how he converses with the drummers, finding a tough, harmonious groove that’s worlds away from Phil Lesh. He listens really hard, responding and adapting in the moment, and always coming out the other side right in tune with Kreutzmann and Hart. The finale of “Good Lovin’” included a nice chant of “Turn this boat around/ ‘Cause we don’t want to go home” led by Bluhm, who came into his own by set’s end. For however long this band lasts, they’re making arguably the most interesting Dead music happening right now.
