The Les Paul, I was not being picky but he is not playing it correctly (unless of course it is meant to be that way).

Well, not sure about the other reactions on here, but I quite liked that rendition...You guys have plenty of energy going there and are obviously enjoying yourselves - way to go!

I like the tone you are getting on the Strat too.  Are you playing through that Bogner? smile

The video sounds good--vocals and energy are rockin' for sure, but...I've been playing Just Got Paid since Rio Grande Mud came out (yeah, I'm that old). The guy playing the Les Paul sounds good but is only playing half the lick. It's a 16th note figure that would include picking the the low E string (palm muted) between every note he is currently playing. It's that syncopation that makes the song move. It's easier if you use a modified finger picking technique: use pick on low E and your middle finger for the notes he's playing now. Or, you can just pick each note Billy Gibbons style, which is the way Joe plays it. .

Not being critical just pointing out what's on the original. You guys sound really good.

I like it, lots of energy for sure, missing the pedal tone low E, but still sounds like lots of fun live. Love that Shiva, always wanted to try one...
Joe just realized he's been playing it in the wrong tuning all these years, after opening for ZZ. Who cares, it's a cover, make it your own!!! The open tuning makes it a lot easier to play too.

Dont listen to anyone here...  You all played that great.  I am very very very critical of cover bands and I thought for a second you all were going to go two guitar leads during the solo and it made me nervous.... But you took the lead and you put your own touch on it.  Keep that up.  I would never try to copy a joe riff or make the riff exactly like ZZ Top... If people want to hear that tone or exact riff then they can go see Joe play or watch ZZ Top.

Play the songs filtered thru you all.  Dont worry about the way Joe or anyone else plays it. 

That bogner made your strat sound killer.  I hate strats so consider that a huge compliment. I love Bogners.

That would have impressed me if I was at a venue where a cover band was playing that. Athough a Zeppelin ending would have put the icing on the cake!  cool

I think covers should not sound like the record.  Otherwise, why not just play a jukebox!  Putting your twist on a song like Joe did to a ZZ Top tune, is what being an artist is all about.  My band never plays covers exactly the same as their original version. Good job.
