Topic: Bugera Amps. What do you know about them?

I've been searching up some Youtube Videos on GFS humbuckers and they had this guy playing a OLP with GFS pickups in it.  Anyway he was playing a Bugera 6262 and said it killed his old Peavey 6505, and from what I heard I have to agree.  Its a 120 Watt 6L6 tubes, and 12ax7 pre amp tubes.  All tube 3 channel amp with a master volume and a switchable effects loop and reverb all for $549 from samash.com  Its for Metal I assume but on the other hand this guy was pulling off blues easy.  Does anybody have any experience with these amps and if so do you suggest them?  I really like the 1960 which appears to be a knock off Marshall plexi.

Re: Bugera Amps. What do you know about them?

The impression I got from them was that they are a more affordable version of the higher gain Mesa and Peavey stuff.  They are made overseas so craftmanship may not be as good as their American counterparts.  That being said, I think they have gotten an overall positive response based on their sound.  I was also shocked how cheaply the 1960 was going for being that it is based on the old plexi's.

A good friend of mine from sweden has bought a 6260 2x12 combo recently and he is
really pleased with it. He uses this amp for his second band (rock stuff).
He made a small clip with his amp which I really liked.

He plays also the Brian May part in a Queen Tribute band and I can say that he really is a tonehunter.
Uses 4 AC-30s and all the gear that B. May uses. So the Bugera amp can't be that bad. wink

Bugera is Behringer. Behringer stuff is cheap, and most of the people I know have issues with their stuff. Honestly, I would not take their products into consideration.

Re: Bugera Amps. What do you know about them?

I just picked up a Bugera V55HD. The cleans on this head are great with a Strat. I'm not a big fan of the gain channel. I think its a hell of a deal for $350.

Re: Bugera Amps. What do you know about them?

I also bought a V55HD some months back and I really like it.  It's not a bad amp sound wise and no it doesn't offer a lot of gain but a fair amount.  The reverb on it its pretty good as well.  I've taken it solo to weddings and at gigs blended with my DSL and I dig it.  Some people have bad luck with $2,000 Marshalls so I wouldn't let the name turn you off.  It's a nice looking and good sounding amp.

They pop like 1kW bulbs...

Surprised it's not a three day warranty.

Re: Bugera Amps. What do you know about them?

Now mine probably wont work next time I plug it in.  Thanks!  I use mine mostly at home anyway.

Re: Bugera Amps. What do you know about them?

interesting coincidence seeing this thread, - went into our local guitar shop yesterday to see one o this amp heads upside down and apart on the counter being repaired, - I had never heard of them before so asked about it, - German made apparently, - another guy in the shop who is always in there did n't half take the p*** out of the name of it!! The shop owner who was fixing it did pass comment that it was not made brilliantly in that his fix was as a result of the input cable being stepped on and ripping the input jack (female part) out of the front of the cabinet!

Re: Bugera Amps. What do you know about them?

really weak value line type of amp. Run!!!!

Ultra Glitzy ads but the amps are pretty much just junk. My tech had one on his bench. All China built. Some of stuff that they have internally was puzzling. Many of the components are consumer grade....that's bad.

Re: Bugera Amps. What do you know about them?

You don't see any real touring musician's using them so they clearly aren't professional grade.  Still I like mine for home use, I can't help it.

Fair enough- Note that I didn't comment on sound as I have not played one. Eye (ear) of the beholder and all that right?

Take a look in an older Randall- RG series. Those were essentially radio shack components they were using for much of the circuitry. I still have mine from like '89..

Those new Hyundai Sonata's are one of the nicest looking (and best selling from what I can see) cars out there. Every time I see one, it reminds me of those mercedes sport sedans...I bet a Bugera amp would fit in the trunk too! (just reeling it back to the topic)...  wink
