Topic: to cover the back or not?

i'm really starting to think about ditching the blues deluxe and get a Vintage/Modern head for my 2X10. one last thing i though about trying on the deluxe and maybe my 2x10 is covering the back of the amp. both combo and cab are open backs and i wouldn't mind finding out if it'd make that much difference. maybe to the cab, but would it for the combo.

i can't really afford a new amp, so i keep looking for cheaper alternatives to mod what i've got.

even though of going for a line 6 smile

Fender 60's Strat>Fulltone OCD V4>>TC Electronics Polytune>Orange Dual Terror>Torres 2x10 Cab(with a vintage 30 and a greenback)

Re: to cover the back or not?

I think if you cover the back of the combo amp you might run into overheating issues I would becareful doing that. If you don't really like the Fender, sell it and look for something used that you can afford or buy a few good OD pedals to use in front of it. Lots of things to explore.

Heat is the deadly enemy of electronics. Even laying something on top of cooling vents can cause bad things to happen. The back was designed to allow proper cooling by being open. Never obstruct cooling.

Re: to cover the back or not?

I sometimes put a sheet of that studio insolation foam in the back of my Fuchs 2 x 12 open back cab to "close" it with good results.  especially in settings where there are people behind us as well as in front.  But I agree with all the other posts...doing this with a tube combo could be detrimental to the amp.  Heat has to disipitate somehow/somewhere.

Get a VINTAGE MODERN, they  look cooler!  Try and buy used.  I love my 2266. -S.
