Topic: Zvex Box of Rock?

Anyone had the chance to play this through a blues junior? Played around with my setup last night and I am sticking with the blues junior for now. With my EQ pedal and TS808 i can get some great texas blues things happening ala SRV/KWS but would also love to be able to get a good marshall style overdrive. Box of rock seems like a good bit of kit. Either that or something like the carl martin plexi tone.

Anyone got any other marshall in a pedal suggestions?

Box of Rock is incredible. But for half the price check out a Zvex Distortron. Has the JTM 45 thing down as well as a 2203 thing going on.
Another pedal I loved in the 'cranked Marshall' zone was the Wampler PlexiDrive.

Other than that nothing beats the real thing. Class 5 and a Blues Jr together might be a nice 'dual' set up?

Amps: 1973 Marshall JMP 50 head and Vintage Modern Cab. I use no effects other than a Cry Baby on occasions.

For getting Marshall type tones out of a Fender, it is hard to beat a Fulltone OCD.  Good Marshall type tones and it retains an "amp" like feel.  I like the thickness it adds to a Fender amp, especially with a Strat.

Just sold and OCD. I could never get along with it. I like the sounds from the demos of the new fulltone catalyst but would the novelty wear off. I think that could be a great all round pedal.

I had a BOR and sold it. It sounded really good but I was using it as a "Marshall in a box" into - ummm - you guessed it - a Marshall! So I got a Fulldrive 2 instead and love it. The BOR would sound really good into a Blues Jr. The clean boost is crazy on that pedal - be careful.  wink

OCD is an amazing pedal. On the "Hi" setting it is Marshall Plexi all the way.

Better than pedals 3 times the price. Also accepts anything between 9V and 18V power supply. The higher the voltage, the more you'll love it. Been on my pedal board 4 years and not going anywhere.
