Topic: autographed les paul special for sale

I have an autographed les paul special that J B signed at the Walton Arts Center. I really hate to part with it but poor health and Dr. bills have forced me to liquidate my collections. If interested I can provide photos. It is a new guitar w/ road runner case.

Re: autographed les paul special for sale

EGuess, I understand your situation with the doctor bills, been through that myself. However, first post here is not the right time to hit us with a sales advertisement. It would be good if you could introduce yourself, tell us a little about yourself and how you found Joe, how long you have played, major influences etc.
I'm not trying to be mean about it, this is a wonderful family of Joe with a lot of caring people worldwide. We welcome you to the forum, but there is a certain protocol that should be respected. I wish you luck in selling the guitar, and hope that your health improves, please stick around.

Re: autographed les paul special for sale

EGuess is only doing what us JB fans WISH people in his situation would do more often... giving us first opportunity at JB-related goods before putting it on the open market.  There have been first posts here that contained an ebay link, and our response was "wish you would've given us first crack at it", which is exactly what EGuess is doing.  But whether the poster has already listed it or is giving us first chance, they're doing us a service by posting a heads-up here.  Not everybody is here to make friends and socialize.

It's the marketplace.  He's selling a guitar.  I don't see a problem.  Welcome.

Re: autographed les paul special for sale

I see nothing wrong with posting your first post in this section, it is related. Surely it is up to the mods to jump on people if needed.
Good luck selling your pride and joy.

Re: autographed les paul special for sale

Both are ok in my book.  Glad we get the first crack, eh Vikki?! However, I agree it would be nice to actually drop an association detail, as it is becoming obvious someone HAS a passing one by presuming a good crowd with likely good possibilities (sales leads/inquiries) would exist on Joe Bonamassa's forum, and lo and behold there is this topical category for just such an outreach venture... But a little one sentence blurb would be nice.  I like Joe Bonamassa, etc... Trust me it directs my attention more when someone ties into Joe whether selling a guitar or a ticket to show (likely to be the one thing, most likely offered here FIRST with exceeding ebay-like scalping intentions).  A tie-in and AND a story will definitely generate more interest I am betting.  hmm  smile  wink  cool.

Don't have to quote a price either, but pictures, a tie-in, AND a story (pitiful sob stories included-DEFINITELY NOT saying yours is EGuess, you are very frank and forthright  big_smile )... halfway to a sale in my humblest opinions.

There is always the possibility the story could be (future stories could be ) bunk too (i.e.-something is autographed with full intent of generating profit, which, with a buyer who does not care about intents or truthfulness other than "what is the merchandise and, how much are you asking"?) and I think my friend got a funny feeling about it-not a sin!  Personally text details WITHOUT pictures are niceties one could add.

Just to show I am playing and plying nice, please Email me pictures EGuess.

Well yeah I got a funny feeling too... I mean I've seen the "I really hate to part with it but poor health and Dr. bills have forced me to liquidate my collections" line too many times to count... could be legit, could've been a business venture from the start, can't be proven either way... but above that, who really cares?  I mean we all may have our personal feelings about it, but the bottom line is, this person has a JB collectible, we are JB fans, and it's a free market.

And for the record, I do NOT know EGuess, just incase anybody is wondering. tongue

Re: autographed les paul special for sale

One thing of concern here is that autographs are not sought after to simply profit from. Joe is very accommodating with signing for fans. He knows that some stuff goes immediately to Ebay but tolerates a certain amount of. We don't ever want to get to the point that fans are denied autographs simply because some people obtain them for profit.

I think ahsmith was hoping to ascertain whether eguess was one of those.

I agree!  Thank goodness for those real autographs-it really makes a connection between "heroes" and their admirers! Those autograph seekers and pictures with Joe Bonamassa seeking crowds at Eric Clapton's Crossroads Guitar Festival 3 were thrilled, but many respectfully a little scared or speechless until later when they get to say they got his autograph!!! Seeking out autographs may also be for a personal friend or favor for an acquaintance.  There's nothing to thwart those who seek easy profit except those who are not desperately or egotistically in the market.  But for profit acquisitions are ok when the time is right.

I am still waiting for pictures... darockette88@yahoo.com

I really didn't want to address this again, but I wasn't trying to determine if he was simply after profit. I have no way to do that even if he adds another detailed post. I take him at his word that he needs the money and he should be able to sell it anywhere for whatever the market will allow. I just think if you join the forum then you should be able to tell a little about yourself, doesn't have to be 3 paragraphs, even if you just joined to sell the guitar and move on.
Of course, EGuess, we would like you to stay, but maybe that is not possible in this instance for whatever reason. I apologize for sounding holier than thou, it was not the intent.
