This is a great, beautifully written review!! Thank you! I'll have to wait till Xmas though.....

Do you (or Jdawg) know what they're doing without Richie? Have they got someone else in or are they not playing?

George,

I will be seeing Little Feat May 9 at an outdoor venue for just $16.I have been told by Feat roadies that their drum tec is sitting in now,i don't remember his name. For anybody who lives in the DC area Little Feat will be playing at the Belmont Country Club in Ashburn,Va tomorrow.Gates open at 5 PM,Tickets are $20 at gate.Come on out the weather will be sunny & cool tomorrow. Delbert McClinton will also be playing. Bob

Correct, Little Feats former drum tech Gabe Ford is interim drummer for Richie Hayward. Richie is on sick leave due to liver cancer.
Richie is a class of its own. Nobody can drum like he do, but Gabe does a great job.
Multi-instrmentalist Gabe is nephew of Robben Ford and part of the well-known Ford family.

Here's what Bill Payne from Little Feat wrote about Gabe:

Re: "New" Little Feat on tour

This just in from Holger -

Richie Haywards wife Shauna posted last Saturday that Richie's in ICU. He
has pneumonia in both sides of his lungs, the doctors are afraid he's in
liver failure, and they're monitoring his kidney functions. He's also on
oxygen, since his levels were "frightening". They also have him on 7 days'
worth of IV antibiotics.

Re: "New" Little Feat on tour

thanks George for posting this. That's all we can do is give him over to much larger hands and continue praying for him, and pray for his doctors to ease any suffering.

Hello everyone xoxo

Richie had a good night.....no changes,...no complications....not going
forward and not going backward.....
Stable

Yesterday he had a CT of his lungs and liver, and kidney, an ultrasound of
his tummy and legs, and the usual blood tests all day to test his oxygen and numerous other things. Those are drawn thru an arterial line in his groin.

The CT of the lungs showed that there is still a lot of fluid, the CT of his
liver showed the two nodules, and the ultrasound of his legs showed poor circulation on one and good on the other. The ultra sound of his tummy showed little fluid, and tons of gas and bloating due to a bowel obstruction that he brilliantly corrected on his own yesterday. His ammonia levels were very high as you can imagine not having a movement since Friday. He is working on that now, and we are grateful.

His skin is breaking down from all the steroids, so we have to watch close for tares.

His Kidney is stressed now, and they are constantly watching that as well. They are also watching his liver and it's functioning. His blood pressure is low, and he has edema.

They are worried about Heart issues, but so far....he is holding his own
there.

He has ARDS which is, adult respiratory distress syndrome

That is, the bodies reaction to either pneumonia, an infection of some kind or other, a trauma, or a virus.

They did a bronc-oscopy yesterday and took a tissue sample, and fluid
samples, and are growing them over night to see if Richie has another kind of bacterial infection that the four antibiotics he has been on are just not able to touch.

If it is bacterial, then we hope it will be just a matter of finding out
what kind of medications work to take care of it.

If it is Viral.....then we are in trouble, as time is not on our side.

He is a very sick man.

All day yesterday, I stoked his hair, and sang to him.....and massaged his
feet and hands....and wiped his forehead with a cloth. They decreased his sedation, to see if he was able to breathe a bit on his own.
When I walked in yesterday morning....he heard my voice, and his eyes opened so wide....and he bit down on his tubes, and he got this little tear in his eye. I cried a thousand tears.

I have forgotten how beautiful his eyes were when they looked at me x

By 6:45 PM, the sedation was lower. When I said I was going to Scott's for dinner while they do shift change ( I have to leave everyday from 7-9 ) He looked scared,.....he started to stack his breaths, and fight the machine. They increased his sedation while I was away, and when I came back, he could still open his eyes and see me....he was just much less agitated.

When I left last night at 11:30, he started to do it again.....so I scooched
as close as I could to him, .....put my head against his head,...held him as
close as I could,....and whispered to him.... "We are going to do this together.....you need to relax and rest, and allow this time to make you well......I told him I love him more than life, and I will be there all the way....he is not alone,...he is safe and in good hands....and I am five minutes away, I call every hour on the hour, and will be here first thing in the morning to kiss him awake......"

I covered him in my tears.....and when I felt him slowing down his breaths, and not fighting the machine anymore,.... I whispered.....dream in colour my sweet husband.....get better so we can jump in a pile of Haywards xoxo

Hardest thing is to leave him......

I love him so very much.....He is the other beat of my heart....and I can't
imagine my life without him....and I am terrified. x

In the same breath....I have hope...and faith....and I believe that love is
stronger that life....and we have a connection that will carry us thru all
of this. One we have both waited a lifetime to find.

We have a rainbow xoxox

Love and light
Me x

Re: "New" Little Feat on tour

Thanks again, very touching and yet shows amazing strength and commitment. Now I find myself crying at work, not really appropriate. Sometimes I wish Feat were not one of my favorite bands of all time, losing Lowell was very painful. God grant him a peace that will suffice whatever tomorrow brings.

A-men to that, brother Tres. The way this whole calamity of Richie's has grabbed me, just reinforces the fact for me that if I had to (at gunpoint) choose only one band as my personal most important band ever, the Feat would be it. I have 'known' and loved these guys and their music for 37 years, we've had an awful lot of quality time together, including the single greatest show I have ever seen.

Re: "New" Little Feat on tour

I am deeply saddened to announce that our dear friend, drummer extraordinaire and founding member of Little Feat, Richie Hayward, lost his courageous battle with liver cancer today. He was loved by so so many and will be missed dearly. Not only the music world, but the entire world, lost a truly great one today. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Shauna, all his family and his brothers in the band. RIP Richie

I've been carrying these thoughts and feelings around all week too, Holger. Tonight, you, Andre and I will stand together and probably shed some more tears as we share this sad but memorable occasion in the bosom of our Feat family.

We'll miss Cathy, Günther and Tres from here, but they will be in our thoughts. Cathy will 'visit' with us by phone, patients permitting, and there will be photos and some film to come.

FEAT, FEAT, FEAT!!!!

Re: "New" Little Feat on tour

ya'll enjoy the concert tonight, I'll be thinking of the "family" and wishing I were there. Give a shout out to my boy Bill Payne, I love his keyboards. Have fun and celebrate Richie's life, sometimes only a concert will do because it's like getting back on the horse that just threw you off.

Re: "New" Little Feat on tour

every now and then I check Govt Mule's website, just for news and to see what they are playing at different venues. Last Thurs night in Columbus,OH they played "Not Waiting For Columbus Jam" in the second set, that led in to Matt's drum solo. It did not state on their list "first time played", they are pretty good about keeping up with that. It could have been they just played it because of the city name, but I wonder if it could have been for Ritchie. It sounds like maybe it's a medley of Feat songs, Warren loves to run stuff together you know. I guess I could just wait and buy that concert by itself, but already have enough Mule to float the proverbial battleship.

Does anyone know what this is they played? any Mule fans at this concert?

A question for all you Little Featists. If you were asking for a Little Feat track lasting around 5 minutes to be played on the radio, what would you choose?  wink

Thanks
