Topic: Chet Atkins on PBS

Even if he doesn't play your style, he's a guitar legend worth watching. I don't know how old this show is, but it's not been broadcast before. I'm guessing it is old because Mark Knopfler looks young to me. Anyway, it's fun! Great pickin'. It's called "In session with Chet Atkins"....Catch it if you can...   Cathy

Chet Atkins is a force to be reckon lionized with!!! I've enjoyed him through the years, being drawn inexorably in my Grandfather who told me to watch him closely once when he came on television when I was a kid.  Really enjoyed his collaborations with Floyd Kramer, Merle Travis, Les Paul, & especially Jerry Reed.  Great stuff.  It should be circa 1990 or 91 Cathy as I recall the album after returning from overseas in 1991.  I read an interview with Mark about it back then, although I am dumbstruck what publication it actually was.... hmm  Hmm.  I remember Mark sounding a bit like Django sometimes back that time (I think he covered him on their album neutral ). It had taken me until Brothers IN Arms to catch on to Mark Knopfler... I have no idea why Sultans of Swing di not inspire me at all up at first, took up until he & Chet had collaborated and suddenly I was "oh yeah"-what can I say?
Love it now!

Re: Chet Atkins on PBS

I could have sworn that was run before Cathy. Chet is truly a master, my dad loved him. One of his favorites is "Chester And Lester" with Les Paul. will look for it and try to confirm if it's really new.
