What makes you cry ? (Page 1 of 3)

I think the first film that moved me to tears was The Pride of the Yankees, the story of Lou Gehrig and his struggle and eventual death from ALS.
Man or woman, if you can watch this clip and not be brought to tears, you should check to see if your heart is still there.

Joe live playing Asking Around for You and Mountain Time (especially with the Django prelude). They get a lump in my throat every time.  I'm just an old softy.

Joe, when he is backstage getting ready to come out on the stage at Royal Albert Hall......noodling his guitar in the dressing room, walking thru the corridor, and that moment he plays the first notes that follow by his look of wonderment and amazement at the audience filling the Royal Albert Hall...all there to see him....still gets me everytime.....

beautiful faces of cows...
and getting my dog put down...
Seal pups lying dead...
the thought of a hole in the head...
Chinese fur farms..
vanity... over your arm...
being lost and without love...
apathy...and the Foie gras...
the ignorance of blissfulness...
oil slicks that went amiss...
Shark fins in boxes on the quayside...
Christmas trees that fell by the wayside...
the vulnerability of children...
video games...they always play them...
a crisp winters wind that passes your eye...
the stars in the night sky...
a bird in a cage... that never sings...

Pete - Is that an original Pete The Cabby composition coz it's one of the most moving things I've ever read and I agree totally with all of them.  I had a little tear in my eye just reading it.  Thank you.

From little on, my children's accomplishments. Gosh, if they only knew how much I love them.

When I saw Steve Winwood a couple weeks ago, I cried like a baby throughout "Can't Find My Way Home" (that song is special to me for multiple reasons and I was overwhelmed thinking about it all at once) and partway through the next song "The Low Spark of High Heeled Boys" (until Stevie f'ed up some of my favorite lyrics in the world, grrr...).

Also, when I went to see Jackson Browne on his solo acoustic tour last year, I uncontrollably wept throughout "Late for the Sky"... pretty sure that was the one, although several of his songs can potentially do that to me (such as "For a Dancer" or "Song for Adam").

Of course there are other things in this world that make me cry, but right now I'm just thinking back on live shows that moved me to tears.

The funeral of Princess Diana - I was ok, up until she was brought out after the service... then a woman cried out...... !,   OMG, that just tipped me over the edge!

Another funeral - George Best (Ex Footballer, the  Belfast City Airport, named after him) So sad! I did shed a tear!
