Topic: Y&T on the road again !
Finally, after a rather long tour hiatus...the legendary bay area band is back on tour in it's support for their new disc"FACEMELTER". Portland was the first show of the tour....same as Joe this year....Portland, Oregon, by the way...great rock city....but I digress. The show consisted of 4 bands, the first 3 all very good, and then, of course Y&T. "American B@st@rd", "Garden of Eden", and "Icarus Witch" each played 1/2 hour sets and Y&T went 2 1/2 hours....great show for 20 bucks!! 400 Ecstatic people watched Y&T rip thru 18 tunes ranging from "Hurricane" and "Dirty Girl" from their classic " Earthshaker" LP to "On with the show" and "Blind Patriot" from the new album. Dave Meniiketti IS truly one of the best guitarists you will ever see live and maybe the best vocalist/guitarist I have ever seen......although I am a bit predjudiced....we have known this band and the guys in it personally for almost 30 years. What more can you say about a band that was on the brink of stardom in the early 80's only to get the royal screwing by their label (thanks, Geffen), but continue to play to this day purely for their fans and love of rock. The band was very cool and did a meet and greet after the show minus Phil Kennemore, the longtime bassist and other original founding member. Phil had back issues and we could tell that he didn't have his usual carefree smiley demeanor. Dave, as usual, was awesome and took lots of time to sign things and have pics taken with people. If you have the opportunity, see this band if they come to your town....they will not disappoint you...I give you the "Murfdog guarantee" OH, and by the way, both my friend and I were wearing Our Bonamssa shirts and had no less than 6 or 7 people enquire or tell us how much they liked Joe. We pimped him HARD!!!
