Hey, it's just the "z" and y", Rick.
Spain with Germany ..... The Germans never showed up.. which is strange, Spain were the much better side. Can Spain become World Cup Champions, as well as being European Champions ??
Either way.... a new name will be on the World Cup.
Carles Puyol at 32 was the oldest guy on the pitch - 3 cheers for the oldies!

The Germans turned up all right - but there's not much you can do if you dont have the ball.
That was a masterclass in possession football. Germany were just not given the opportunity to get into the game and the plan worked. It was a totally absorbing game to watch. Well done Spain! (Sorry RicK! )

"The Germans would have played so well, but the Spanish - mean as they are- didn´t leave them the ball." (Quote from a German radio station this morning)

Not a bad supposition Brack.
The way I saw it it could have gone either way.
England will be represented in the Final! England's Referee, Howard Webb and his officials have been awarded the World Cup Final - Great news!

Aha! The fix is in!
ENGLAND WINS WORLD CUP!
Paul the Mollusk (or whatever) was right again! My condolences to the Germans!
Now I'm sure all the Dutch are on the edge of their seats waiting to see who he picks for the final! Good luck!
Funny you should say that, Don (I'm guessing it's you). One of the Dutch papers reported this morning that 'Paul the octopus' had selected Holland to win - this "news" spread like wildfire, our entire office was talking about it - then came the truth - it was a hoax, as Paul wasn't going to select the winner until Saturday feeding time.
It will be real tough against Spain, who are certainly the best footballing side by a wide margin. I console myself with the memory that the best footballing side, Holland, lost both the '74 and '78 finals to supposedly lesser teams (admittedly, both were home teams).
Whatever team wins will be worthy and deserving champion!

But for some great saves by Casillas, the result would have been different. Notwithstanding Paul, best of luck to the Dutch George.

I would suggest Paul be stewed in coconut milk as is done in Polynesia. then served on a bed of white rice. Truly delicious.
Rick
I would love to serve "Paul" Greek style.
Broil about an hour, cut into pieces and add lemon, seasalt, black pepper, spring onion, parsley and olive oil.
If it's too much for a salad you can put 1 or 2 legs on the barbecue after broiling.
Let's see whether the Dutchies have some recipies, if Paul is right and Spain gets the Cup.
I'll cross my fingers for the Oranjes.
Hup Holland Hup
